• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Newbie to the site, lifelong enthusiast of military aviation. Incredible talent on display throughout this website – I hope I'm posting to the right area, let me know if I'm not: I'm looking for detailed background information about the combination of MG 151/20 cannon and HDL 151/20 turret in Luftwaffe aircraft, primarily the BV 138. Any ideas and directions as to finding archived materials would be greatly appreciated. Most helpful for my research would be documentation concerning cannon installation, ammunition loading and operational characteristics: diagrams, photographs, training information, etc.
Thanks,
Barry

I moved this thread out of the Warbirds forum, which is strickly for the automated posted generated when new files are uploaded to the SOH library.

There was a thread few month ago about the BV here. I have tried to find some material. It's realy not easy to find. :-(
All I can say is, try to find find some movies at YouTube. I'm still searching for good material.

Learning

Perhaps learn to fly? How's a sample (video) showing it performing? Of course I am showing off, but since I am retired, I got videos coming out my ears (hehe). Hopefully it will inspire you in that hunt for spec info. Good hunting. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUrx-rdAy84 .

PS: When you click on (highlighted) link, you'll get a pop up asking if it's 'ok' for YTube to open a window-say 'YES' (it's 'cool'). Then you can click on the icon (of a screen) to go full screen (no need to do anything to window that opened for showing video) to get a more enjoyable view. When done viewing, just click screen icon, then close (X') window and you're done. Or, you can view other videos and when done close window and return here.

To find real world info on the armament in question I think the best option would be to contact the Aviation division of the Deutsches Museum in Munich. They do have a decent archive and have been quite helpful in the past. There is no Bv-138 at the museum of course but you never know what they might have in terms of info.
