Five P-38's Flying at POF Air Show

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Planes of Fame announced today that the following P-38's are all scheduled to be flying at their big annual Chino air show being held this year from May 4-5.

"Tangerine" - Jack Erickson (coming from Oregon)
"Honey Bunny" - Jack Croul (based at Chino)
"Thoughts of Midnite" - Tom and Dan Friedkin (coming from Texas)
"Glacier Girl" - Rod Lewis (coming from Texas)
"23 Skidoo" - Planes of Fame Museum (based at Chino)

Only slightly disappointed that nothing has been mentioned of Ron Fagen's P-38 "Ruff Stuff", but it would have a long journey to get out there and may already have other commitments (it did partake in the P-38 gathering held a couple years ago in California, at the 'Capital City Airshow' - at that show, they worked to assemble five together as well, but due to an engine problem with the POF Lightning at the last moment, they were one short).

(Note that with the air show schedule, more often than not there are multiples (in some cases a lot) of a particular aircraft type listed.)

Hey Terry, that aircraft is based at the 'Flying Bulls' museum at the Salzburg airport, Austria. It's been getting a lot of flight hours, and appears that it will be displaying with the collection's Corsair throughout this air show season (in the last few years, it has made air show appearances all over Europe, including Flying Legends at Duxford in 2011).

These films were posted recently of some training flights so-far this year, ahead of the air show season:

Here's in-cockpit footage of the aircraft displaying at the 2011 Flying Legends show at Duxford:
