Fixed WW1 .MDLs for Stuart Green aircraft

ok i'll do some work. i'll compare the FE2 with the Caudron and see what i have to do to make them match up. off hand i don't know the specs.

Oh OldWheat. with the Strakken, Do you have one that the elevators and rudders work? on the one i have they don't.

updates:
I have the Fokker DVII about finished. I still have the panel that needs work.

Has anyone tried the Albatros DIII? Just wondering how she's doing. How about the others, Pfalz and Snipe. if everything is in order on the Albatros then just add a new Readme. once that is done it can go for upload.

The B24 Guy didn't do the Staaken animations but I'll wager that he would if asked nicely. It's rather 'frame-hoggish' though IIRC.

Has anyone mentioned that there are a whole bunch of FS skins available for Stuart's models (Fokker DVIII,Albatros, Pfalz, etc.) which an be readily converted to CFS2 with minor effort.

Has anyone converted them? or what is needed to convert them?

I'll have to make a DP for the Caudron. i have the specs but it will take me little while to get to it.

It varies from texture to texture as I recall. Generally, changing the .BMPs to DXT1 with DXTbmp is all that is necessary.

Caudron Update

Hey All,

I am almost finished with the Caudron G.4. I have a brand new DP that i basicly built from scratch. i have not tested it yet. I still have to add the bombs.

I'm currently working on the airfile and CFG. they are close but i'd like to get them a little bit closer. the airfile i had to modify. It is almost a new one entirely. actually its a mix of 4 different aircraft. i'm having a little issue with the roll and yaw. the rudders are slow to respond and the ailerons (wing warping actually) tend to drift. i'm not 100% sure how she should handle so i'll need a second opinion before i release it.

last thing to do will be the panel. it real only needs CFS2 compatable guages. maybe a throttle quadrent for twin engines. aside from that the hard work is done. i hope to have her ready by this weekend.

till later

well sort of. The Airfile, DP and CFG are finished. I have done a little, and i do mean a little, work to the Panel. At this point my brain is fried.:isadizzy: If someone wants to do a proper panel then by all means please do.

She is a joy to fly. i may have her a little to manuverable. but without know how she realy handled, i'm unable to do much more.

the DP works nice. She doesn't have breaking parts. though she does break, blowup and crash. I have the bombs loads added. She now has three different loadouts. they consist of 2x112lb, 4x25lb and 8x25lb bomb loads.

I'm afraid the she isn't multi LOD. and i did notice a fair amount of lag (frame rate drop). though i did fight 4 of them without a huge problem but it is still noticable.

I'll post her later to day. i have to finish the readme and get some screenshots.

OldWheat, do you have a readme that i can add too. or list who and where credit should go.
That way i can add it to the readme.

Thats all i have for now.

Till Later,
John

Caudron G4 review.

Ok people here she is.

View attachment 79362

give her a try and let me know what you think. look her over. shoot her down. Bomb a few German bases. Have fun.

The DP is completely new. let me know how it works. its my first ground up DP thats not a ship.

If you make a change please send it to me so i can see it and add it.

The sound is aliased to the Aerocrates Nieuport 17. Weapons are Aerocrate's and the guages are from Stuart's FS9 version. the panel is basicly unchanged.

Note: to start the engines you will have to set the throttle to atleast 20%. she has wheel brakes but you may not need them for landing or take off.

Till Later,
John

By use of Model Converter X is likely but you need permission. Once in Model Converter X you can dump it as a .3ds that gMax can use.

I'd love too use the Caudron and the Zeppelin Straaken. But they both need this. The ZepStrk needs the most. even without braking parts it really needs LOD work.

Its just a thought.

I'm still all thumbs in Gmax and FSDS. I'd have to be walked through it. wait i mean crawled. I get all of the rest but this still eludes me.

Most or all of Stuart's models are already multi-res but most likely could use some trimming down in the distance LODs. Running them thru Gmax would no doubt also help with the FRs. At any rate, Stuart has already given permission to tweak his models for CFS2 use as long as proper credit is given.

Okay. I guess you could send me what is most important first so I can look over them.

Were did you error at and what program?

model converter X V120
