Latest posting on the FR Facebook pages advises that the civilian version is complete and some minor stuff to be done here and there. This is looking like an amazing authentic piece of work. Can't wait, yes have to, but really eagerly anticipating this one. A couple of pics courtesy of FR.

The best thing about this model (in my book) is that Bernt Stolle is doing the FDE. I agree she looks beautiful, but even more important is how she FLIES. With Bernt at the helm- allest gut.

It's going to be a glorious year for piston aficionados!

Speaking of DC-4s, I've just read a passage in Serling's "Howard Hughes' Airline" that describes the suffering of a TWA captain who had to take DC-4s across the Pond while the Connies were grounded by the CAB in '48:

"We'd fly the Atlantic with an indicated airspeed of 150 mph, which is the approach speed of a 747. I remember flights when I logged 36 hours of flying time between Paris and the East Coast. In those days, pilots couldn't bid equipment, so there I'd be in a DC-4, wallowing around in a storm I couldn't climb out of, and I'd envy the hell out of a crew in a Connie flying at 17000 ft above the weather."

:biggrin-new:

Great news...looking forward to it. I don't do facebook so went to his website to get more info and pictures...nothing listed for this, not even on his WIP section. Anyone know why?

That is a work of art. One can imagine all the hours, sweat and toil that went into it. It just looks right all over. Well done. :applause:

I can only agree. Simply the most impressive 3D VC I have ever seen. I thought the DC-4 Argonaut was impressive but this man's attention to detail not just the looks is also first class. The Heron and the Argonaut, which I have are well simply superb.

There's a Gooney Bird buzzing around these parts that'd give it a run for the money...;)

For those interested, it looks like the DC-4/C-54 might just be on the home stretch, via Facebook, lots more on the Flight Replicas Page.

Speaking of the North Star. How clear is the cockpit glass?

Anthin.

I've never had a problem with it mate. I know that some models have the 'olde worlde' look just a tad overdone but that isn't the case with the North Star;)
