The Grasshopper doesn't have floats, or skis. The J-3 also has fewer polys, revised flight dynamics, different instruments, adjustable gloss for paint schemes via the alpha in the paint kit, and there's probably a few more things in there.
The "Flitfire" includes a Franklin-engined version, plus the three-piece windscreen which was common on early Cubs.
Other than that, they are indeed similar.

I should also mention that there is an alternative prop texture in the texture folders, for those who like the blurred-blade look - which can also be used on the L-4.
