Flight Replicas Me-262s Special Edition Released

mike_cyul

SOH-CM-2025
The Messerschmitt Me-262s Schwalbe Special Edition package is now available. You can find more information here: http://www.flight-replicas.com/Me-262_Special_Edition.htm

As is standard for our releases, the Special Edition will be available on the Flight Replicas website only for the first week or so, as it makes updating the package easier in case there are any changes that might come up. After this period, the Special Edition will be available with other vendors.

We hopeyou enjoy it! :)

Mike

Thank You Mike. It needs version of Me-262 before or its a stand alone product now?

Great fun - I found myself skimming the rooftops just after take-off...

Nice pictures!

Mike, because I feel a little embarrassed:

1/ While much of the physical model in this release is unchanged from the previously released Flight Repicas Me-262 models ...

but

2/ A reworking of the previously released Flight Replicas' Me-262s, this new Special Edition features possibly the most authentic aerodynamics ever done for this iconic WWII fighter, painstakingly researched and written by FSX aerodynamics master Bernt Stolle.

So this special edition has a new FM or not? If Not - do You have plan to add next version of Schwalbe with this new FM update or only upgrade?

1/The physical model refers to the mesh model itself and it's animations, the physical appearance of the aircraft i.e. it's shape.

2/The airfiles (FM as you call them) meaning the aircraft .cfg and the .air file, are the completely new ones by Bernt Stolle.

Hope that helps!

Mike, I purchased the "original" 262 for FSX some years ago, and was able to receive the "previous customers" limited time download a few months back. Will the old textures work on the new model? or can I simply place the new CFG and AIR file into my old directory (adding in the liveries) in order to make use of the old paint schemes with the new flight model? Great work!

As far as the older textures are concerned, I tried to keep everything as similar as possible between the old and the 'new' model, just in case, and so old textures should, in theory, fit. However, I had to add a couple of new areas in the VC for the Special Edition, and so areas of the canopy, etc., will be missing some of the improvements. As well, the old textures are mostly 1024x1024, and the new ones 2048x2048, and so the old ones aren't going to look that great. You could try working with the paint kit that comes with the Special Edition, however, and at least make certain items such as the Luftwaffe insignia sharper, etc., and possibly adapt the old schemes that way. Perhaps a blend of old exterior model paint textures and new VC textures would give something acceptable.

Sooooooo... Any possibility there will be a seperate texture package available for those who have the first edition of the Special edition...?

No, because then some would have paid for them, and some would have them for free. Not fair for those who paid.
