A long time ago, mybe 1982 or 3 a friend of mine with an XT turned me on to a little cga game called "Jet" where you would have to take off and lnd on this aircraft carrier. I've been hooked on flight simulators ever since..

35 now, started flightsim when Artwick released his first. It is a long time ago, most kids get a bike for their birthday.... I got a computer LMAO

I started with A-10 Cuba! at the age of three.

Now I'm 14 and I've moved onto DCS: Black Shark, LOMAC and FSX.

I'm 37 and started simming with FSX SP2/Acceleration in Nov or Dec (6 months). I run an E8400 at 3.8GHz, 4GB ram with a pair of HIS 4850's (only use one for FSX).

I jumped in right when FSX was getting good and computer parts were pretty cheap so I guess I'm lucky, but I did miss a lot of years I could have been simming.

Timex/Sinclair 1000 w/ 16k RAM (whimpier than the Spectrum), program loaded from a cassette tape.

Started in 1985 with SubLogic's Flight Simulator II for the Apple IIc. Still have the computer and the original 5.25" floppy.

Hi guys,
Just coming up to 81. Was a wannabe Spit pilot in the 40's (it never
happened) but Ive been into flightsim since a long long time - can't
remember when.

Rgds to all

Roy

My children are getting old, am 65, and fell in love with a Commodore 64 (it was a she-Commodoraaa!) and it was in that wonderful computer that I got my first flight Sim(??) and many other flying games....back in..........ummm, I forgot..What???:mixedsmi::mixedsmi::mixedsmi:

Fighting Biplanes on intelivision in '78(?) Came back for FS 2002in '03.

I played that game as well, if I remember right if you were attacking your apponet from below while climbing in altitude you would stall and begin to loose altitude all the while holding that fire button(. . . . . . . . . .)lol.

Wasn't a puter game but started with Intelevision B17 Bomber, first puter sim. was CFS1 Crazy Hurry turn feast over interlaken, I would be the 109 B&Z there.

Was hooked with flight simming, started last year 2008 early January, An SOH figure with high esteem and honour, introduced me to FS2004.... My yearning to fly never stopped, was addicted to it! Even at work, on my smoke breaks, I do short touch and go's ...LOL

I am half a century year old, I always wanted to be a pilot (my second love!) in my younger years (my dad said: NO lady Pilot), can't do then, can do now! :jump:

Eli :running:

My first flight sim was on the Timex Sinclair 1000. Then on to a Commodore VIC 20. Then I started with PCs and had Flight Simulator by SubLogic (pre-Microsoft) and also ATP. Since then I've had every version of MS Flight Simulator, two versions of Sierra's Pro Pilot, two versions of FLY!, too many air combat sims to mention, and now X-Plane.

The combat sims I enjoyed the most were Battle of Britain, Aces of the Pacific, and Falcon 3.0 (I was a beta tester).

Started with the first A-10 Simulator back in the 90's. Didn't do the MSFS until FS2002.

Hooked ever since!

Interesting that the age/number of pilots chart looks like a statictical bell curve.

Was suprised to see the high percentage in the 5-25 age group. Also interesting that the next age group (25-35) percentage dropped. Maybe more having families or trying to.:jump:

My first flight experience was with the TRS-80. Really a terrible graphics system, but good enough to get me hooked in simming.

Next month I'll fall into the last age group, 75 and :engel016:.

Thank you all for voting.

Its really interesting to see the age range. I think flight sims are one of the few computer games that has such a wide range of ages.

Cheers

Ben

I voted but haven't been simming as long as a lot of you. Started with a 486 and Air Warriors.

What was your tail number, Reddog?

I started flying AW in '92 and continued until EA killed it.

I still have an AH account but only fly scenarios these days
when I'm not traveling.

A lot of us former AW'ers hang out in a nntp newsgroup
that evolved from Blue Barons "Big Week" events near
the end of the AW era.

I sure do miss those 12-frame DoK GoNzO scenarios!!

I can't believe the $$$$ I spent flying AW on GEnie at
$6/hour....several $600-$700 credit card bills!!

Before I discovered Air Warrior and the thrill of flying
online against REAL adversaries, I dabbled with various
stand-alone sims in the 80's. I had some version of
MSFS in that time frame but once I started flying
Air Warrior I never had any other sim on my computers
until after the demise of that ground-breaking sim.

It was only in recent years that I came back to MSFS with
FS9 and now FSX. FSX now takes the majority of my
'flying time' as well as my 'tweaking time' .

Paul aka Gypsy Baron ( Air Warrior - 4580 )
