Flight1 Citation Mustang out now!

Gajit, I feel qualified to address the texturing observation, at least where it relates to VCs. I'm a bit of a texture fanatic as well, and I love the work that Carenado and Captainsim do. I think comparing the Mustang to those other offerings is a bit apples vs. oranges, though. The modeling in the Mustang is absolutely stunning, especially the VC, and the textures complement it beautifully. The UVW mapping is second-to-none, and the textures themselves really give that new-cockpit look. Each plane has its own aesthetic, but I think they got this one right and then some.

Just one pilot's opinion, of course.

I definately respect that - perhaps im not seeing its true potential from the screenshots. Would you say that its better than say Eaglesoft products in that respect?

Also is there any glazing/reflection texture in the cabin and cockpit windows or is it just fresh air?

Funny you and Bill bring this up, texturing is my biggest pet peev when it comes to an addon. Nothing worse than a stretched or mis-aligned texture to kill the immersion factor. I remember one of the main reasons I never got the Conquest 441, was due to an image of the window ledge to the left of the yoke, it had no detail and just turned me off, especially since I knew I'd be seeing that every flight.

That being said, I just looked at some of the cabin shots of the mustang, WOW, looks amazing !!!

I'm hesitant to compare the Mustang to another developer's product. It has its own look that's unique to it. The challenge is representing a clean, modern cockpit with all the amenities while still giving it character. For my money, they did it just right.

The Citation 'pit doesn't have the strong interior reflections you might have seen on some other VC's, but apparently that was a conscious decision on Jim's part. I didn't notice the lack of them, and I definitely got the impression of glass. As this thread shows, everyone's got a different opinion on this stuff, though. :icon_lol:

Does anyone with a "low end" system have this yet? I definitely want to get it and am going to be building a new 'puter early next year. I'd like to get it early next month but afraid the FPS would be in the single digits on my ancient dell computer with a p4 2.53 Ghz processor.

Gajit I'm not sure what you are seeing on your monitor but that VC looks pretty HOT to me. I'm not much into jets except vintage warbirds, but this looks like a keeper...now if someone will do an old Saberliner that looks this good, I'd be in heaven.

Just to stick my nose into the debate, yes, real world pilots must have money to burn and be unmarried... I mean yeesh, for $55 I could have a whole 15 minutes in a Cessna 152! I could buy one round of drinks at a pub that lasts about half an hour or I could get something that, in theory, could give me hour after hour of entertainment over an extended period of time.

It's all relative. I know people who could smoke and/or drink $55 away in less than an hour leaving them with nothing but fag ends and a hangover. At least you can use an FS add-on more than once.

I guess what I am seeing in the product screen shots is yokes that look like the plastic has turned white at the top - rather than light catching them. Also bland texturing on the VC central screen column.

It just looks cheap to me (if only it was!!)- again please someone - show me some other views as i want to be proved wrong.

Do you expect nicks and scratches on something that is simply gray plastic?

Enjoy the shots. BTW, the yoke is indeed reflecting light.

I also included a picture of a REAL cockpit, for reference.

Give Flight1 some credit. They worked closely in "partnership" with Cessna to get this right. There is often a real difference in being a partner as compared to licensing something, not only from a business perspective but also from a technical and wealth of information and knowledge perspective.

55 bucks isn't even a full tank of gas.

Thanks for posting those cockpit shots Cody, looks pretty good so far.

It is hard to make out, but all those built in placards are readable. There is a lot to do and look at on those longer flights for sure.

hey thats a personal attack on staff not me of course:redf:
LOL
H:costumes:

TX Cody - those shots do make it all look much better.

Im still going to wait until the price drops - if i have the willpower!! LOL

Again - thank you for clearing my concerns.

The price is not a problem, but the fact that the Cessna is build for yet another future computer system. That..makes it expensive :isadizzy:

I doubt if the price will ever drop, at least not for a few years probably.

Been waiting for this one impatiently.Just picked mine up at KIDP and am enroute home to KLEX.First impressions are that this is right up there with the best of em.Framerates are in the mid 20's on my 2 year old E6600 system.Flew over to Jackson Hole last night using real world weather and shot a couple LNAV approaches in the snow.Love the icing effects. As far as price goes seems like a bargain to me at $55 when you consider that it not only looks incredible from a modeling and texturing standpoint but the depth of the systems modeling is quite deep as well.So my hats off to the fine folks at Flight1 and to the beta testers for all the long hours and hard work that went into creating the Mustang. :applause:

I must be clairvoyant then, because my current system is running it just fine. And trust me, my rig's no powerhouse. :icon_lol:

Spend your money any way you want to. Food, drink, wild women and expensive downloads of aircraft. Although I've personally seen better than that, freeware.
I cannot justify spending that much money on this one single airplane. When I know how much work that went in to Bill Womacks Plum Islnd Airport where he even made a glider, not to mention some very fine Ford Tractors. All he asks for it was $15 dollars. He even mapped out the whole town of Newbuyport for good measure. He certainly isn't cheating his fellow Flight Simmers.
I rest my case.
