Flight1 - P-51 THoughts/Opinions?

Ark

With Oshkosh this month, Flight1 is running a sale on quite a few products. One of these products is their P-51 Mustang, which comes in at 40% off.

Thoughts/Opinions?

Thanks!

I have the Flight1 P-51D, and I like it very much. I don’t believe the model ever got the attention that it deserved, possibly because WarbirdSim’s P-51B, C & III for FSX were released at about the same time and most people seem to favour those. I have both models and I think they are both of very similar quality, and the Flight 1 model is a Aeroplane Heaven product so that should give you an idea of what to expect.
With a 40% reduction I would say it’s a no brainer, you won’t be disappointed.

I totally agree with Jan Kees. This P51 comes close but feels artifical, somehow the textures just miss reality. Especially the VC lacks the feeling of "being there"! In this ascept the other P51's are much better.

Better wait for the A2A P51D with accusim..........

agree with everything that has been said in this topic

here is my personal feel:
+ model is great as you can expect from Aeroplane heaven
+ nice variety of default paints
- Artificial look (textures to clean for a plane of its age and cockpit bit cartoonish but ok)
- not many third party repaints (which is ridiculous since it have a good paintkit)

all in all a very good flying aircraft! but in my opinion no winner

my ranking:
1) Warbirdsim
2) Flight1/AH
3) WOP Mustang

Best Regards

I would copy that.

I have WOP and F1 P51. What i dislike most, is the fact that all the nuts and bolts in the pit of the F1 P51 are painted and not modelled. There is no 3D look on this. Flat double thumb down for this.

sound and flying model look more authentic to me in comparision to the real "Double Trouble 2" which was flying in my neighborhood last year.

As i said, the model itself, does not deserve a price. Too simple and not enough detail. I would take WOP if you are out for a nice looking plane and pit.

IF you want a sim to fly more realistic, take F1 one.

Cheers
Martin

This whole VC texture issue has been addressed before. If you look at the aircraft the F1 P-51 was modeled after you'll see that the VC tuxures are spot on compared to the original aircraft. Which is also dull and lifeless.

I like it. That being said, I'm sick of P-51's. You'd think it's the only aircraft that fought the war the way it's over done. I just don't fly 51's anymore! JMO

Wrong, wrong wrong. Every nut bolt and rivet in the F1 P51d is modeled in 3D. If you don't believe me, remove all the textures and load it up and see what you get.

You are kidding right? Look at the shots. The cockpit is finished that way because it is that way. Compare the shots.

That is the choice for the customer to make which is good. But can we please have our facts straight?

Cheers

Cheers indeed. Baz

Bazzar,

Well, having been a payware junky since the days of $9 Alphasim CFS2 aircraft, and having purchased just about every AH product, I can say I love it. The model, the textures, how it flys; all great for me.

What's next in the pipeline, Mate?

Thank you, Bazzar.

Hi LT,

Well at present we are hard at work on about twelve projects in all. Most I can't talk about here but you know we have the C47/DC3 series coming up soon and a couple of others are just around the corner...:wavey:

Thaks for the responses all. I think I am gonna pick up the F1 P-51. The model looks great and those cockpit shots look pretty darn accurate. Thanks again for the feedback!!

Baz,

Off topic, I know, but any word on the FS2004 Avanti (as you can see, I like the Avanti)? :ernae:

Thanks!

G'Day Ark,

Glass cockpits and FS9 are PITA but we are getting there mate. It's all got to work properly otherwise there's no point. Thanks for hanging in.

B.

Yea, I know there are a lot of folks who just love the P-51 and there are a lot of little known variants and everyone who knows anything about the P-51 wants a particular version done for FSX. . . .but. . .I also think enough is enough. . .great airplane, love the sound of the engine, looks cool flying by at max speed, but after that. . .ok what's next? lol

I spent one summer restoring the P-51 from Cavenaugh Flight Museum (along with a lot of other talented folks), but after 6 months of crawling into the hell-hole to rig cables and squashed in the aft compartment behind the pilot to add an environmental system for the passenger and draining every drop of fuel from the wing tanks. . .if I never see another P-51 it'll be too soon, lol.

Been there, done that, let's see something new and exciting! lol:salute:
