FlightSim Developers P38 Now Released

Hi Tim,
is there any chance of making the manual available as a separate download for us users who don't have it available in the programs listing (64-bit Vista) ?

Regards,

Ian,

You can find the manuals in your Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FlightSim Developers\Pilot Manuals\Lockheed P38 folder.

No guages on new install

I purchased the FSD P-38 yesterday and according to your site I didn't need to download the service pack as I was downloading after Oct. 9th.

I have no gauges!

I'm running Vista 64 and Norton Internet Security.

?????????????

Micro,

Something seems to have gone during installation. Vista 64 can be a tricky beast. We recommend that you run the installer and Flight Simulator in "compatibility mode" for Windows XP. In most cases this will resolve the issue. Another thing to review is Microsoft's guide to User Account Control (UAC):

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(WS.10).aspx

Also, installing programs into the default Program Files(x86) directory severely limits permissions for programs within that file structure, regardless of how your login permissions are set. This has been widely discussed on the Internet forums. It really is a good idea to install programs like Flight Simulator outside of that directory structure.

If you are receiving some kind of error message we need to know what is generating the error and what the error message says exactly. Typically if an error occurs during installation the installer will create an error log in the same folder from which it was executed. If so we recommend you send me that log at td@fsd-international.com

Rest assured I will get this working for you.

Running on XP. Installed the service pack : all gauges gone in all models and after a minute or so FSX crash with MS Visual C++ Runtime Library popping up out of the blue !:isadizzy:

All was fine before installing the SP...

What now.... :blind:

cheers,
Jan

Thanks for the quick reply. I have re-intalled with compatibilty set to XP. No error messages but still have no guages. When I tried uninstalling prior to re-install the uninstaller went to not responding and the dialogue was referencing the YF-23

Same thing except im on XP, I ended up uninstalling and using my original download.

FSD I am sorry but this is shocking to me. Why would you keep blaming these problems that are clearly your problems, on windows? There is nothing wrong with Vista so you cannot blame it. You need to get these problems on lock, pack all the fixes into an installer and post it. People are going to start demanding their money back before too long. This is getting ridiculous.

No gauges

I have re-downloaded and re-installed the P-38 and cannot see any gauges.

I am currently running the original download so that I can at least fly the plane.

I also would like to note that when I try to uninstall the original or the updated files the uninstaller references the YF-23 (which I do not own) and will not uninstall the P-38.

I am running windows 7 and have tried to run as an admin, in compatibility mode for XP, and with UAC as always set to low.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me regarding both of these issues.

Thats not a windows 7 issue, i had problems uninstalling with xp as well, first time i got an error and second time it hung while trying to get rid of a yf23 that i dont even have.

I don't even feel like flying the P-38 right now, I'm afraid I'll run into a problem, try to resolve it, and it will only get worse...hopefully in a few weeks (that's ALOT of time) all will be settled, if not...as was said a few posts above, I'll be asking for my money back

Don't think anyone has said or done anything shocking here. Also, nobody is blaming a particular version of Windows. But as you surely know, a lot of things can go wrong in Windows (all versions). In order to help a customer, which I am trying to do here, I need more information in order to get a technical problem like this resolved, and this is what I am doing.

We take support issues very seriously and work very quickly to get them resolved. And we will get this one straightened out as well.

Ok Tim, as long as you guys over at FSD are actively trying to solve this thing, I am fine with it. I understand that Windows can cause problems but developers have to learn to work around those problems because Windows is here to stay.

Well said,Tim!
Also you are one of the developers who is around here.
Look at others, they let their customers hang here with no activations and so on.
The Servicepack also does not work for me,but that is no problem,i use the TrackIR and can wait for the removable yoke and so on.Really no problem for me!
You have build with the P38 such a wonderful aircraft, take the time and find out the problems.
In every case, the first download files are working fine.
Michael

A lot of times its not Windows, but Windows settings. I have Vista on a laptop here and it gives me absolute fits unless a change a lot of settings (and put up with a lot of warning messages). Also, Internet security software can be a problem on the Vista platform because many of them overwrite the default firewall drivers. And replacing Vista drivers can cause all kinds of havoc. Sometimes it takes some digging, but there is almost always a way to find the problem.

Are you having a problem with your current install? If so I am sure it can be corrected. Let me know.

Looks to me as if FSD is workin hard to fix the problems....give em a little time an see what happens.

AND KEEP IT CIVIL IF YA DO HAVE A GRIPE!!!

Hey Tim.

The P-38 works great, however the YF-23 still does not work, even after your last exe on the YF-23 topic. I get error 21 or something when trying to run it. It bothers me that if I want to fly the YF-23, I have to un-install the P-38. It looks as though you guys made a fix for this, but I've seen too many people reporting 'no gauges on P-38' or 'FSX/Windows crash'.

I'm going to hold out until someone can validate that indeed, in Windows XP, with Accel, their YF-23 has HUD, MFD, Gauges, and that their P-38 has not been altered in any way. Then I'll try an update or service pack, whatever it may be

I've said it before, it means alot to me that you've been trying to fix the problems for a while now, instead of just saying screw it. Good on ya. I and I'd say we all really appreciate it.

Regards, Diego
