FlightSim Developers P38 Now Released

I ran the Load Manager again and again all my P-38J' and P-38L's show default with no variation in the aircraft selection menu. The first line entry in the paint.cfg is exactly as described P38J-Camo etc. When I change the entry from variation="" back to variation=Camo the variation shows up in the aircraft selection menu again. Again all is well until I use the Load Manager.

I also noticed that the P38L model has FLTSIM.0 as P-38L Camouflage and calls for texture=camoL

In the P38L folder there is not a texture.camoL folder.

Please advise.

Rod

I never did get an answer to the above question.

To Tim or Chuck of FSD:

I have asked twice why the P38L aircraft.cfg has a fltsim for texture camoL when there is not a texture folder for this included and I have never gotten an answer, I would like to know why!!!

The latest version of the P 38 package to take flight is now ready , The Lockheed XP-38K is now nearly forgotten, this airframe was configured for the Allison V1710F-15 powerplants which were rated at over 1,875 bhp in War Emergency Power (as compared to 1,725 bhp for the V1710F-17 in the P-38L) and Hamilton Standard propellers where fitted to create the XP-38K .

There are other refinements being made to the installer to simplify it and eliminate cross platform problems as well as to clear up the final elements reported with the package, we should have it out for the weekend .

Hate to make this my first post on simouthouse but as a possible customer I am scared away at what I am seeing in this thread. I really like the p38 too and it is sad to see the state this product seems to be in. Half of the comments here seem to be complaints and problems with the plane or the installer. The demo plane I keep hearing about is a beta? So if I try the demo, I am demoing a demo? Does this make sense to anyone? I then see that the plane when it was released for a few people came with the F-23, which is nice and dandy except I am hearing/heard people say that the two planes are not compatible? Hasn't FSD had these problems in the past and if they did why are they not fixed after all this time?

I like pretty much what I see in the pictures but I see a lot of things missing like the plackards and labels. Baking looks nice and that is pretty much all I see it for is a decent cockpit with baked textures.

Sorry guys you lost a sale here.

P51guy, believe me this is a must if you like the P-38J and L. Most of the comments especially from my side are very small problems which are for the most part completely resolved. Tim and Chuck are giving great service and from what I see continue to achieve perfection. You will be missing something by not jumping on board.

We are happy to report that there are no unresolved issues with the installer or anybody who is unable to install the aircraft , there is at the moment one report of a shadow out of place in the Red Bull version in DX 10 mode and that is being attended to with the final release .<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
As far as a fix it list goes it’s pretty short , the new installer being prepared is designed to eliminate any potential problems now and in the future , that said there were issues with the first ones because of them using the same code base as the demo and this is being resolved by eliminating the demo , we are sorry if the problem reports were off-putting but they were few in comparison to the number of aircraft out there .<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Placards and labels are all over the interior as are stencils on the exterior , all perfectly legible .<o:p></o:p>

All three of the aircraft I have purchased the YF23 Commander and P-38 don't work if all three are loaded on my computer...:isadizzy:

So glade you got the P-38 fixed? when ya gonna make it so I can use the otherl three products I purchased from ya?

I'm not a happy customer FSD...
and I don't think I'm the only one after people read that statement above.

Chuck, you might want to test the light switches on all the various models before the next release. In the most recent SR version, some of the models have a switch that doesn't flip. Seems to vary plane-to-plane.

You should reconsider. It is a very well done aircraft. As picky as I am about certain things, I am really enjoying the P-38.

The demo was originally released as a beta a couple of weeks ago. It was announced earlier this week that the demo that is now available as the release version.

There were some initial problems with the P38, which we were very quick to correct. It is true that these should have been caught during the beta process, but they were not and we have apologized for that.

We appreciate that this might scare you off, however, the software as it is available now is not in a sad state. There are many virtual pilots happily flying the skies now with this aviation classic.

If you have downloaded and installed all of the latest files you should have everything working. If that is not the case let me know specifically what is not working and I will help you out and get everything up and running for you.

Tom,

The Load Manager will be updated this weekend with the addition of the 'K' model.

Thanks Tim, great service as usual. The addition of the K model will make a great aircraft even better.

Maybe I am wrong but i see some issues still cropping up in these posts that are warning me away from the product. 2 patches going on 3 in less than a month and people are still reporting issues with stuff like lights?

Im sorry FSD but this product is not giving me the warm fuzzies. You guys act rather professional at least but it looks like the community is beta testing your software.

You dont have to explain yourselves and I saw that your quick replies from a few guys at FSD struck a nerve. Ill walk away from this one because I think I am borderline making a few people angry. Im just one man stating my opinion about a product that appears to me from the surface as having problems still.

I downloaded the demo
all was fine
no issues!
sadly it has expired but thats what you get for free:kilroy:
but as i said no issues
i do believe the issues are solved
and thanks to FSD for there diligence , patience
and hard work

P-38 & FSD Problems

FSD,

I purchased your P-38 on 10/06/09. I had 8 issues with the plane and e-mailed FSD directly. No response. Sent 2 follow-up e-mails. No Response.
Tried to register & log on to the P-38 support forum twice. Never received passwords from FSD.

Fortunately, I found this forum. Maybe I can get some support now. Before I list the problems I have with the plane, I'd like to re-download the current version, since it might have fixed my issues. How do I do this?

Thanks,
