• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Flightsim rig gone banana's

Videre Vincere Est
After suffering some trouble with my FS PC graphics acting weird for a few day's now today i lost all graphics.
My FS PC is now officially U/S. For those who wait on particular paints, and testflying; all postponed till i have the situation solved (probably new vid-cards, and not replaced earlier then the end of this month).

Hate this, especially since i had some new payware planes installed.

I know the feeling all to well, my HD died on me fortunately all my fxs stuff and important data was backed up on a second HD . Hope you get your PC fixed soon.

I feel your pain Rene!
Nothing worse than losing you flightsim pc. Hope it's all sorted out with a new video card.

What card(s) are you running? I've revived a few Nvidia cards from the dead by baking them in the oven! Just remember to remove the card's heat sink first and reapply thermal compound afterwards.

GPU Trick?

Aha! The good ole' 'REFLOW' trick, eh? Heat it until the solder gets soft, and 're-flows' to where any gaps get filled. Cute trick. But how much heat? It is also possible to do it with a large kettle filled with peanut oil and heated to almost smoking temps. No guarantees, though. And with peanut oil you will have to scrub it thoroughly with HOT soapy water. Shouldn't take you more than 12 hours (hehe).
