Floaters Down Under

Now that the Western Roundup is about over, we decided to try out some flying boats for a bit. I got to thinking about the crocagators down there and figured I'd best go with something with boolits.

Trying out a new large floater. It's out of this world...

Nice flight on up the coast to Evan's Head. Decided that this ol' S43 was a better choice of ride for this flight.

We were headed for Brisbane and made a slight detour over Archerfield, just southwest of Brisbane to overfly one of our mates (PM) home field. Then it was on to the estuary just off the airport for a nice water landing. Fun flight!

We flew on up the coast to Hervey Bay. Nice flight but I'm sure glad we're not in any particular hurry to get anywhere.

Another good flight along the Australian East Coast, yet ever so slowly we trod, lol. I got a few extra shots of Kevin in the Martin "Mars". . . .a very large airplane that just looks majestic in the air.

Another good flight up the coast, minus a few regulars though. One thing these shots show is what the freeware utility "FSrealWX" produces beyond the default FS9 weather engine. Default was just fog, then I started up the FSrealWX program and got what you see in the images.

We flew up to Lizard Island (YLZI). I've been trying different water textures and the water in the screenshot is now gone as I didn't like the look while on the surface. I believe the technical term for it is "yucky"

Having a water issue. It's changing looks every few seconds from looking okay to looking horrid going back and forth.

And I got tired of kicking the tires on this Goose....

Well, took the Goose on it's first leg and let's just say that it's not all the guy I bought it from made it out to be. The engines sound like sick washing machines and seem to run either at idle or wide open. Anyway, we made it to PNG and I've got to break out the tool kit and see what I can do with it. Maybe I should have spent less time kicking the tires and more time for a test flight.

We flew up river to Kiunga or something like that. Nice flight over the jungle and just glad I didn't have to make an emergency landing. I hear some of the people living there like to have you for dinner.

Anyway, we're getting ready to cross some tall hills so I was checking the emergency supplies in the back and found a couple of crates that could come in handy...
