Flying Iron's new Spitfire for MSFS2024

For those without Facebook ( perfectly understandable ), Flying Iron posted these shots of the Spitfire's dedicated rebuild for FS24. No responses to queries about the B-17, which is a little worrying, but this new Spitfire will be a definite purchase for me.

Amazing the amount of modelling that goes into aircraft now. Models from CFS days seem like stick figures in comparison.

It's been said on their Discord page that the cockpit model, as shown, is at around 1-million triangles, prior to optimization for MSFS 2024.

FlyingIron have also stated on their Discord that the flight dynamics for this new Mk.IX Spitfire for MSFS 2024 will be more advanced/accurate than the 2020 version, as they're able to take advantage of all of the new FDE capabilities provided with 2024. This includes not only more accurate flight modeling, but also more accurate ground physics. They're working directly with the RAF/Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to ensure the highest level of accuracy.

The 3D modeler, Iakov Aizenberg, has his own ArtStation page which can be found here, in which the renders can also be viewed: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qJdNvP

As can already be seen by the renders, the new MSFS 2024 Spitfire Mk.IX will have the option to install either the earlier reflector gun sight, or the later gyro gun sight (as installed in all operational Mk.IX Spitfires by May 1944/ahead of D-Day). On Iakov Aizenberg's ArtStation page, he also states that there will be the option of different gauges/instrumentation based on time period. This also coincides with FlyingIron having mentioned a little while back that this new 2024 version of their Spitfire Mk.IX will feature early and late external models, with both the early (short) and late (tall) rudder.

Thanks for the link to Mr. Aizenberg's page, John. (y)

Personally, I'm not too concerned about the gunsight and instrumentation variations, because their period relevance would be lost on me anyway. You would notice the difference, of course. A 'warbird' GPS option is essential, however. Flying Iron has always included one, and no doubt they will continue. The tail fin option is great news - now we will see Britain's best-known Spitfire Mk IX, MH434, as she should be.

I hope Flying Iron revisits all their existing models and upgrades them in the same manner, particularly the P-38. Not at the expense of B-17 development, of course; gawd, I hope that project is still alive.
