Flying Legends 2013 Preview

SOH-CM-2025
The annual Duxford Flying Legends air show is happening this weekend, and as expected there has been quite a bit of warbird activity at Duxford already this week, in preperation for this coming weekend event. "Global Aviation Resource" has posted a preview with photos of this weeks activity leading up to the show: http://globalaviationresource.com/v2/2013/07/10/news-flying-legends-2013-build-up-100713/

*Note the presence of the P-51D "Moonbeam McSwine". This aircraft had been owned by Vlado Lenoch since 1988, and was a regular at many Midwest air shows here in the US over the years, and a annual regular at shows like EAA Oshkosh. Vlado sold the aircraft several months ago and it now resides in France, along with the new owner's collection of other warbirds, including a Sea Fury. During this coming weekend's displays, "Moonbeam McSwine" will be joined in the air with the P-51C "Princess Elizabeth", which represent the two different Mustangs that were flown by Bill Whisner of the 352nd FG during WWII.

More of Duxford's daily happenings and information on this up-coming Flying Legends show can be viewed here, at the TFC Diary page: http://fighter-collection.com/cft/tfc-diary/

Wish I could be there.... Way too far away... Can't see it on the program but I wonder whether the ex AFC Hurricane will turn up

Naki, she is indeed scheduled to attend, arriving from its new home in France (as you know).

Here is a photo that was taken of the aircraft on its first flight in France, just over a month ago (piloted by Bruno Ducreux). Photo by Jean-Marc Poincin.

Thanks for posting the heads up John.

Don't forget, this years show marks the end of Stephen Grey's time as a display pilot, as he's decided it's time to call it a day.

Fitting I suppose, being the 20th anniversary of Flying Legends.

I'm very much looking foward to the show, especially the Horseman's Spitfire formation routine.

Cheers

Paul
