P38man, sorry a bit harsh maybe not a good day yesterday and away untill tomorrow will look again tomorrow.

I think your problem is with the realism settings the only time I came across what you describe was working on a different plane for someone who had realism set at max which dropped the cat set after 3 - 4 seconds.

If you have realism set to max turn it off and try a launch, Shift+I to hook up Shift + Space to fire.

The realism thing as far as I am concerned is rubbish.
 
P38man, re the cat launch being dropped having tested on 2 comps I would say it is realism settings, it hooks up ok and drops the cat at max rpm and the plane moves off under engine power only off the deck and into the sea.

Try launching with realism sliders at zero which is where I have mine.

Good idea to get a couple more cat capable piston engine carrier planes to compare.

Yes, the first couple landings are poor: this shows the animation better. For a good landing the guy just stands there.
 
I need an animated LSO who will run in terror for the safety net when I'm headed for a ramp strike. :icon_lol:

problem when i land my skyraider on the HMS Victorious when I trap on the carrier my aircraft noses over no matter how slow i land. Can someone help me out?
 
its a freeware skyraider i downloaded this year or last year. So i dont have the file anymore so not sure whos it was
 
I suspect it is Tim Conrads but can't be sure.

Try this Back up your aircraft.cfg, delete the [tailhook] section from the working aircraft.cfg and copy paste this [tailhook] section in its place.

[tailhook]
tailhook_length = 6.0
tailhook_position = -25.000, 0.0, -0.500
cable_force_adjust = 6.0
 
thanks for the help Rich but no joy on the new tailhook cfg.... Sounds silly but Itried razbams A-6 intruder and landed safely
 
OK not a problem two questions are you using max realism ? what was the problem with the settings I gave they work ok for me, ok three questions, is the carrier moving when you attempt to land.


It does sound silly the Intruder is a trike gear I think.
 
Jetmechanic, would you please post the A-6 hook settings it might help in finding why I can catch a wire and you can't.
 
Jetmechanic, when you said you were getting nose over with my settings were you ending up standing on the nose with tail in the air or did you see a bit of nose dip which but you ended up sitting correctly on all 3 gears.

The Hook on the settings you passed me is 3 feet off the aircraft center line to the right which pulls to the right when you catch, amazed you can land safely with that
