Have you tried the freeware carriers that can be downloaded from Flying Stations ? Namely the Victorious and the Ark Royal I believe...

Ah OK, I have the Ark but thought it was too modern, wasn't sure if victorious was modern enough, but I guess WW2 vintage was still operational in the 50s

Hi Jetstream,

Yes the Late WW2 Victorious is the most suitable of the Flying Stations Carriers (although not ideal). The Sea Fury actually carried out her first deck trials on the HMS Victorious in the winter of 1946-47, and the type was approved for carrier operations later in 1947.

The Victorious however was put in to reserve in 1947, and then from 1950-57 she went a massive rework to modernise her. By the time she emerged from this refit the Sea Fury had left front line service.

The ideal carrier would be a Colossus class, however to my knowledge there is not one available right now for FSX.

Thanks for enlightening me about the carriers, I did a google search to learn more about them and came across the Dutch carrier Karel Doorman which was originally HMS Venerable, a collusus class carrier. I've heard that name before and found that there is an FS9 model available at Avsim, so I might give that a try.

Interestingly this is also the infamous Argentine carrier Veinticinco de Mayo (or 25th of May) much heard about during the Falklands war.

HMS Venerable, Karel Doorman, and Vieintincino de Mayo, are all the same ship.

Nice!

Looks like you are having fun! Love the panoramic images. Suprised you are not flying the Canadian one Jetstream! :)

Has anyone else had a problem with the throttle in this aircraft? It doesn't have the immediate response that every other aircraft I have, it seems slow and jerky when viewed from the VC, also is there a better soundset anywhere?

What breed of joystick do you have ? it works ok for me with a MS FF Sidewinder 2 no problems at all.

You may want to visit the Flying Stations forum where there is a ongoing thread about this.
