Flying the P-51C

What a treat!

Most engrossing watching him cycle repeatedly through his checklists.

Sound....just amazing. Good, good stuff.

Thanks for posting.

A real treat absolutely awesome.:applause::applause::applause:

It was good watching him go through the cockpit checking and rechecking and flying and I remembered my drill in the WOP Mustang being very similiar to his. I could understand what he was doing due to my hours of flying in the WOP mustang cockpit.

Amazing find, nice to see that the runup is similar to modern GA airplanes. I need to get the headstrap now for my GoPro. Didn't see any paper checklists, but he does have a great flow checking each switch/dial.

From his FB page:

"The button I push on the top of the dash is to check that the landing gear warning light is working."

That was outstanding! Probably the closest I'll ever get to being in the cockpit of a P-51....thanks for sharing this.

The CAF's Red Tail P-51c is in town this week. After watching these videos, I think I'll sneak over to the airport and see if the hanger is unlocked...:icon_lol:

That's good stuff. I didn't see as much right rudder input during the take off roll as I imagined I would. Robert Johnson, in his book "Thunderbolt", descibes having to keep the right rudder pedal to the floor at the start of the take off roll. Maybe P-51s are "easier", in that regard, than P-47s...
