FlyingIron Sims FW190 Released!

Amazing that another picture exists of that particular 190. The markings and ware are identical. Those gents may have been part of my father's unit.
Could be but tbh , there are loads of pictures from that plane.

A lot is written about it here:

Did the Joseph Priller Fw 190 (one of my favorite '190 paint schemes) ever have the spiral on the spinner? In all period photos and depictions (artwork, models, and flying example - N190DK), the spinner is always a solid coating of RLM 71.

True, John.
Also the W.nr on the tail is missing .

As always, John's eye for detail is unsurpassed!~And this gave me the chance to revisit this paint and change a few more things, since Flying Iron also released a paintkit in the mean time.

as for the worksnumber, I couldn't find any pics with it, but I did find a profile with this number, so why not?

No cat piss getting in the air and land...

What is a good, inspirational place to fly this tough lady ?........

I put this listing together of all of the round-engined flight-worthy Fw 190s in the world, and where they're located, which might inspire one to fly the FlyingIron Fw 190 from some of these same locations:

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 VH-WLF - Owned by Chris Mayr, based in Australia at Wangaratta (YWGT). Also flown from/performed in airshows at Scone (YSCO), Wollongong-Albion Park (YWOL) and Shellharbour (YSHL). Was previously test flown and operated at Baton Rouge (KBTR) in Louisiana, USA, from 2011-2014 when owned by its builder, Don Hansen (then registered as N4190).

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 D-FWAA - Owned by Karl Grimminger (Luftraum Nord/Hangar10), based in Germany at Heringsdorf (EDAH) on the island of Usedom. Was test flown at Bremgarten (EDTG) following rebuild/repairs by MeierMotors. Prior, it was built and owned by Christophe Jacquard and based in France as F-AZZJ, test flown and operated from Dijon-Darois (LFGI) from 2009-2010. During this time it was flown/performed in airshows at Duxford (EGSU), La Ferte-Alais (LLFQ), Hahnweide (EDST) and Toulon-Hyeres (LFTH).

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 D-FWMV - Based in Germany at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg (EDVE). Also flown from/performed in airshows at Zeltweg AB (LOXZ) and has spent some time displayed at Red Bull's hangars in Salzburg (LOWS). Was previously owned by Tom Blair and based at Duxford, then registered as G-FWAB, but it never flew in the UK (just ground runs).

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 ZK-RFR - Owned by the Murray Miers (Chariots of Fire Collection), based in New Zealand at Omaka Aerodrome (NZOM). This was the very first Flug Werk FW 190 completed, first flying in 2004, then registered in Germany as D-FWWC and based at Flug Werk's headquarters at Manching (ETSI).

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 SE-FWA - Owned by a conglomerate of five pilots, based in Sweden at Stockholm Västerås Airport (ESOW). Was first test flown at Manching (ETSI) in 2017, then temporarily registered as D-FWSE.

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 N190AF - Owned by the Tri-State Warbird Museum, based in the US at Clermont County Airport (I69), Ohio. Also flown from/performed in airshow at Willow Run Airport (KYIP).

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 N190BR - Owned by the Military Aviation Museum, based in the US at Virginia Beach (42VA), Virginia. Also flown from/performed in airshows at Willow Run Airport (KYIP) and Hamilton Intl. Airport (CYHM). Was previously built/owned by Bob Russell, then based at Camden, South Carolina.

Flug Werk FW 190A-5 N190DK - Owned by Dan Kirkland, based in the US at Casa Grande (KCGZ), Arizona. Built/completed by GossHawk Unlimited, the aircraft is currently undergoing repairs following a bad ground loop in 2022 which resulted in substantial damage.

Flug Werk FW 190A-9 N190RF - Owned by Planes of Fame Air Museum, based in the US at Chino (KCNO), California. Was previously owned by the family of the late Rudy Frasca. Also flown from/performed in airshows at Oshkosh (KOSH), Reno (KRTS), Camarillo (KCMA), Palm Springs (KPSP), and Gillespie Field (KSEE). It was also flown at/from Frasca Field (C16) in Urbana, Illinois, in 2011, as part of a gathering of all of Rudy Frasca's warbirds.

Flug Werk FW 190A-8 N447FW - Owned by Erickson Aircraft Collection, based in the US at Madras (S33), Oregon. Also flown from/performed in airshows at McMinnville (KMMV), Boundary Bay (CZBB), and Hamilton Intl. (CYHM). Was previously owned/operated by the Military Aviation Museum at Virginia Beach (42VA). Originally built/completed at MeierMotors in Germany with test flying at Bremgarten (EDTG), then registered as D-FMFW. Was flown at airshow at Breitscheid (EDGB) in 2010.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-5 N19027 - Owned by Steuart Walton (Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum), based in the US at Paine Field (KPAE), Washington. The restoration, which was mainly performed in the UK, was completed by GossHawk Unlimited at Casa Grande (KCGZ) in Arizona, where the test flights were carried out. This is the only original Fw 190 that has flown in the modern era, and also the only one that has flown with the correct BMW 801 engine. Unfortunately, like the rest of the FHCAM collection, the aircraft hasn't flown since 2019 (following the death of its previous owner, Paul Allen).

Focke-Wulf Fw 190F-8 N91FW - Owned by Rob Collings (Collings Foundation/The American Heritage Museum), the aircraft has been undergoing restoration to fly at GossHawk Unlimited, located at Casa Grande (KCGZ) in Arizona, which is where test flying will occur when the aircraft is completed. This will be only the second original Fw 190 to fly in the modern era, and also only the second to be powered by the correct BMW 801 engine. The aircraft performed a series of ground-runs last year, but ran into some issues with the engine which required it to be pulled and sent back to the engine overhauler.

Story of the first '190 in Allied hands, the Fw 190A-3 WkNr.313. This excerpt taken from the book, War Prizes, by Phil Butler:

"This III/JG 2 aircraft wore the single-chevron insignia of the Gruppen-Adjutant of III Gruppe/JG 2 in place of any code number. It was flown by Oberleutnant Arnim Faber and had taken off from Morlaix on June 23, 1942 to combat RAF Spitfires which had attacked its base. After making a navigational error, Faber landed at RAF Pembrey in South Wales. The Fw 190 was a most important capture for the RAF and it was taken by road to Farnborough for examination.

The RAF serial number MP499 was allocated on June 29th, prior to its first flight from the RAE (Royal Aircraft Establishment) on July 3, 1942 which was made by Wing Commander Hugh Wilson. All the early flights were made by Wilson, during which it was flown intensively in comparative trials with Allied fighter types. These trials involved aircraft and pilots of the Air Fighting Development Unit (AFDU) at Duxford, who were detached to RAE Farnborough for the purpose. The reason for this was that Duxford was still a grass airfield at the time and it was thought too risky to fly the Fw 190 from grass.

During the course of these trials, the '190 took part in the famous demonstration (July 22, 1942) in which it was flown past an official delegation, in parallel with the Griffon-engined Spitfire, a standard Spitfire IX and a Hawker Typhoon. This was in effect a speed trial which was won by the Griffon-engined Spitfire. It directly led to large orders being placed for the Griffon Spitfire.

The later flights involved Flight Lieutenant Tobin, Lt K.J. Robertson (RN), Capitaine M.P. Claisse (a French pilot who was a member of the Aerodynamics Flight), and Squadron Leader S. Wroath. The last of the 29 recorded flights of MP499 was made on January 29, 1943 by Lt Robertson. MP499 was stricken off charge on September 18, 1943, the fuselage being used for firing tests, the wings for destructive testing in a structural test rig and the engine for bench tests. Twelve hours 15 minutes of test flying had been accomplished at the RAE at the time the aircraft was SoC."

This is as the aircraft looked when it landed at RAF Pembrey:

And during evaluations at RAF Farnborough:

Hehe... On its way ! Thanks for that comprehensive list, John, just what i was looking for ! :encouragement:
(do you perhaps know what happend here with F-AZZJ, John ?...)
(edit : sorry, scratch that, John.. engine trouble over the bay of Hyéres during training, June 2010. Pilot saved by bystanders (prob. bysailors..;-)

Didn't know *THAT* many are still flying today or being prepared to do so. Wow!

Btw, bought my first BMW couple months ago. Electrique ! i3S. ( does NOT sound like the 190.... i do very much like that in the sim ! ;-)

This one turned up on the Marketplace, and I installed it.
Two issues, and I wonder if anyone else went for the one without the guns (!)
1. None of the repaints appear
2. Using Airshow assistant, artifacts appear when the 190 is the player aircraft in the formation.

Changing player aircraft to something else seems to fix the problem!
