Fokker D.VII Captain Sim

The new Fokker D.VII MSFS 2020 from Captain Sim has appeared on Marketplace.

But I don't see any mention of it on their website or Facebook page.

Does anyone have this plane and can tell me anything about it?

Best regards.

The dev's reputation isn't the greatest to start out with, and having your "cover" pic so embellished doesn't help. For their sake, I hope I'm wrong.

I have their Sopwith Camel and SPAD S.XIII, but I recently bought a paint job on sale on the Marketplace, and unfortunately, it's Polish and poorly done. I reported it on the forum, but I don't know if they'll fix it, and the files are encrypted, so I can't fix them myself.

The Fokker D.VII is strange to me because the planes are sent to the Marketplace after the store is encrypted, which takes a while, and they're in the store, but there's no information about it on their website or Facebook page.

A bit strange.

I'll probably buy it anyway, as the price isn't too high.

The Fokker D.VII is a great plane, but I'd prefer to buy it off the Marketplace.

Best regards

Checked it out at the Marketplace and must admit that I was rather disappointed. From what I gathered from the included screenshots, the propeller isn't the proper shape and seems too short in diameter (resembles a kid's wind up toy). Also the textures seem amateurish, with the shapes of the lozenge patterns being off and apparently no crosses or roundels on the tops and bottoms of the wings. These guys have eyes.....right??? Not a bad price but an effort not worthy of a classic plane.

There's a mini review on the official forums now:

I broke down and bought it last night. I reasoned that this will probably be the only D.VII available for MSFS2020. As the review stated, it's a bear to hold in a level attitude. The modeling is pretty good but the textures for all of the German variants aren't too accurate. The pattern that they chose for the lozenge fabric is just too large. Luckily Captain Sim included a nice paint kit with pretty straight forward texture files, so we should be getting some more accurate skins for it soon. The propeller is still an issue. It's too broad and oddly shaped for a D.VII, making it seem like the diameter is too small. It would be lovely if they would go back and replace the existing offering with a nice representation of a proper Axial propeller.

Hi Jacek!
Here is a screenshot of the Polish livery from the earlier review. I think they're using the right insignia for the period (1918-1920) but the choice of the lozenge camouflage pattern doesn't seem correct for Fokker. Looking more closely at the textures in game, I think they sampled the lozenge pattern too large for the selected areas.
Cheers, Wackywings

If they do a nice Triplane I will buy that in a heartbeat! I have their Sopwith Camel & it is very good except for the sound as it is not quite right, good try but just doesn't have that rotary buzz & stutter. Even the flight model on the Camel is reasonable if not a little dumbed down to make it easier for PC pilots but it has those distinctive gyroscopic forces. It is also difficult to hold in level flight but the real aircraft were like this, back then it was all real hands on flying in high powered light weight aircraft!

Thanks for showing the Polish paint scheme.
I asked on their forum if the Fokker D.VI would be sold outside of the Marketplace, but it took a long time for an answer, so since they've made the checkerboards correct and added Repaint_Pub, it's worth buying from the Marketplace :)

Best regards.
