For anyone interested, New Direct X

Seems to be working fine for me.

XP Pro w/SP2, FSX-Acceleration. eVGA 8800GTS 640MB card.

OZ with ORBx looks great...did some circuits in the Sydney
area and then north up the coast a couple of hundred miles.

Just took a Baron 58 to Geneva with no problems.

Must just be an unhappy coincidence then. I notice Firefox is causing my hard disk to thrash around something chronic this morning so that may be the cause.

I defragged and made a new restore point, then I installed it and flew for two hours. So far so good.

As I read it all DX updates are for XP and Vista...Being as they are as stated before backward compatiable...

Im run XP but used it to with no problems....

Well, I'll tell you what, I have Vista 64-bit. I downloaded the new DX10 and now the runway flickers are gone in Preview DX10 mode. I still have slight flicker problems with the taxiway markings, but even those are no where near as severe as before. My water texture, better in DX10 than DX9 before are now simply outstanding, rivers even seem like running water.

Now that's what I want to hear. :applause:

So do you get this from MS?

The dirxt x update should be in the form of a downloader, so all you need to do is save it somewhere then when you need to check for updates just run it and it will check and download any updates. I have being doing it like that for 3 years now.

Incidentally ignore my earlier comment regarding a blue screen of death. I've narrowed it down a bit, it only appears to occur with one aircraft (the RAZBAM EA-6B) so further investigation is certainly required.

I'm not sure it's related but ...... AVG is running a scan 30 minutes faster since I installed this.
It used to take 3 hours and 20 to 40 minutes.... now it over at 2 1/2 hours.

i flew it today, i don't see an increase in frames like some, but i do see an overall improvement in quality. nothing big, but something.

Same as Stan.... running XP 32 bit Home Edition with SP2, and no issues with the new DX9c. Looks ok so far.

It slowed FSX down for me. I haven't tested changes in my bufferpool and texture bandwidth settings yet so I may need to do some more tweaking there. (I want to fly, not tweak!!) I dropped from a steady 15 fps to 9.0 fps. After a few more minutes of flight I drop down to a staggering & stuttering 0.9 fps. I'm not going with this update.:faint:
