Tony Rice is from Danville, VA Ed and we all know about Alison. This link was sent to me by an old girlfriend whom I just found on Facebook. There are still a lot of feelings for her, I will always love her as a friend and older brother so to speak, we have been inseparable in that realm. Her sending me this video brought a little tear to my eye.

Hey All,

Great song Caz - one can never tire of AKUS.

I feel like Obio (probably not a bad thing) typing a post like this as I never ever ever let myself get this personal but here goes...

When it comes to old GFs I have one that I was a fool to have left behind 25+ years ago. I even knew it at the time but as Dan Seals sings I had to learn the hard way the "Everything that Glitters is not Gold" if you know that song. Anyway she is never very far from my consciousness and never will be. Perhaps in another life...

Anyway this song written by Chris LeDoux - if you've ever heard of him - expresses exactly how I feel and always will. Steve Howard does a good job on it. He does a lot of talking up front about Garth and Chris and you can listen to it if you like but the song starts at 1:40.

I got an email from her a couple years ago which I never answered as I couldn't trust what I might say but if I had answered I would have sent her a link to this song.

Here goes - pressing submit reply...

Hey All,

Thank You for the link Caz - I really do appreciate it - it means alot - and I do prefer that song done by Chris. That the song is dedicated to Keith, Waylon and Chris is cool. At the end of this post is a video in whick Allison Krauss and Keith Whitley sing together even though they never did as the song was a dubbed mixture by a radio station in Cincinnati if I remember right. They are great together.

I bought my first Chris Ledoux cassette at the Sisters Rodeo in Oregon in about 1979. His mom and dad were selling them off the tailgate of a pickup in the parking lot. This even after he had won the World Championship in Bareback Riding in 76. To me Chris is one of the best stories about a singer toiling in obscurity until one number 1 song mentioned his name and country music fans asked - "Who is Garth Brooks singing about when he says "a worn out tape a Chris LeDoux..." in a song. They checked him out and Chris became a star - eventually winning - posthumously unfortunately as he died from cancer - the Horizon Award at the Academy of Country Music awards. Chris and Garth were close - Garth tried to donate part of his liver to Chris but was not a match. Garth unretired for a bit to record one song dedicated to Chris LeDoux.

I've so many favorite Chris LeDoux songs but this is probably number 1.
