Hi,

Thought it was about time to (re)introduce myself.

I used to be a relatively active member known as 'cobrauk' but I had a couple of hard drive meltdowns, replacement computers, changes of ISP. health issues - you get the picture? Combined with the SOH crash I found that I wasn't able to re-register as 'cobrauk' so I am sort of back but now as 'gandalf'.

CFS2 was off of my PC for a long time because of improved(!?) operating systems, currently managed to get it running under Windows 10. Also I went to the 'dark side' and have IL2 1946 and FSX installed.

Really interested to see that some of my repaints had been rescued and are available here, unfortunately some seem to have been irretrievably lost both from here and from any backup I had.

Anyways to cut a long story short here I am again - older but no wiser.

Hey welcome back Gil! Its good to see you are still around. Your repaints are still present in the library. When you do a search on the username "cobrauk" they will pop-up.

Its a long time a ago I had CFS2 installed, but I occasionally visit the forum (and enjoy the fact there is still a group quite active with it).

Welcome back, Sir. It's alway nice to see an old member return to the "fold". You may have noticed that I did a revamp of the "Ding Hao" using your texture as a base. Also, using it to make a "Shangri-La". If in any way that is a problem, let me know and I won't upload them. I don't want to "step" on anyone's toes. Again, welcome back.

Hi Huub long time eh? I have been doing some stuff for FSX for my own amusement but haven't posted anything.

Noticed a lot of my old repaints have been uploaded here which is nice. Some of the ones I did are missing from here and even I don't have copies any more.

Hey bub - guess you mean the old lady attached (I had to redo this one from scratch since I lost it from my files too). So long as you give me a mention somewhere as one of the original creators then no problem with you doing a revamp - look forward to seeing the results. Only reason I request that is I have had some people (and web sites) passing my stuff off as their creation, OK it is free but you will know when you do your paints the amount of time it takes including research.

Thanks guys good to be back - that F4U repaint I did was a favourite of mine too!

As far as the missing files some I remember were - P-38 Haleakala for the Gryphon P-38, Ding Hao for the FDG2 P-51B and Nowotny's Fw190 9 (which I use as an avatar) this was for the old VB Planes Fw190 but not the 1% version which has different bitmaps. There may well have been others but it was long ago in another galaxy!

The Ding Hao doesn't really matter because I redid it and bub is doing a revamp with my blessing I had lost the original repaint I did but managed to find my master layered textures that I used for all the P-51B repaints, only the aircraft specific layers were missing.

Great to see that this is still as good a community as I remember it being.

I have a copy of your original "Ding Hao" and if you PM me an email, I can send it to you along with the revamped version and a copy of the "Shangri-La" for your approval. I remember your work as well and just did a search of all of my skins and didn't find any with your name on them.
And here I thought I had a fairly complete backup of all of SOH and Simviation CFS2 files.....
