Perhaps not the best looking one, but at least it is a genuine one. It is part of the very nice aircraft collection of the Royal Belgium Army Museum in Brussels.

Whenever you are in Brussels try to visit it as they have some very nice aircrafts there!

Hoi Huub,

Don't want to sound like a clever dick but unlike our language the English language doesn't have a plural form of the word 'aircraft' . It's one aircraft or two hundred aircraft, makes no difference. Funny, huh...:d

Nice piccie of the Brussels' army museum, love the way the roof is designed, obviously by an aircraft designer...:)

That's a very common mistake made by the Dutch Jan; I've seen it on various websites.

Anyway, looks like a good museum to visit someday, but first I have plans for another museum to visit next month.. :mixedsmi: No Mossies there, but plenty of other interesting aircraft!

:redface: Oops, I know Jan! And despite the numbers of years I have been on this earth already, I can still remember the examples my old English teacher used to give......

But for me it is just another proof that English is an odd language. And when I see the differences between English (UK) and English (US), I understand that even the native speakers are not sure how to write it ;).

Hurricane91, the Fairey Battle is still there and is still being restored. This evening I will try to post a picture.

Rich, the helicopter in the first picture is a Allouette II, however the most impressive helicopter they have is the one at the bottom of this post!

Some interesting aircraft in there...

First photo, top deck above the Moskeeeetoh canopy is a Fairchild 24R in green.

The first photo with the Helo has a Storch in the background, green with a bent prop in front of the tail assembly.

Must be nice to have that many warbirds in one location.

Yeah, when I'm reading the forums, that's one of the first indications that someone's first language isn't English. Another aviation-related one is "landing gear". Nose gear, port gear, starboard gear. It's all "the gear" -- not "gears".:mixedsmi:

Still it's really fantastic that non-native-English-tongue-aviation-enthusiasts can participate in forums like these. Myself i owe it all to my English teacher, Mr. Fokker ( they didn't all build planes or meet their in-laws, you know... ) i bet that if he was still alive he would've been pretty proud of me. Thank you, Mr.Fokker, Sir! :salute: :d

I have been to the same museum some 15 years ago. A re-visit is long overdue.

The Alouette II in your picture is of the type i actually was lucky enough to fly myself.
During an exercise in Poland a helo of that type from the "Belgische lichte vliegwezen, Bierset (luik/Liege)" took me up in the air, and while i was sitting in the front the sergeant-pilot! asked me to take control. So i did and flew for quite a while (some 45 minutes or so). Very happy memories i can tell you.
This particular museum has some happy memories for me as well, since it was part of a long weekend with my service-mates in Brussel/Bruxelles and also included a visit to the brewery of "Kriek-Lambic".
 
Nothing wrong with your eyes Bill. Below a better picture from the Fairchild and one from an aircraft you know very well.

I went there with my friend André vanDuin, who is known here as Ome Joop and perhaps some CFS2 veterans still remember him from the damage profile he did for many aircrafts.

That is also the reason why the pictures have different sizes. Some pictures are done by André and some pictures are done by me.

Good story Warrant! There is a beautiful Allouette II in the Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg as well. I thought this was originally owned by the Belgian Air Force as well.

Is that a full size B-29 hanging from the ceiling by 1 wire? Very impressive!

It's great to see rare planes being preserved and cared for as living history.

If you ever get to Washington DC, you must make a point of visiting the Air & Space Museum at Dulles Airport (if you haven't already).

Perhaps this picture gives you a better idea of the size from the Battle. Compare the wingspan from the Mosquito with the wing from the Battle!

The bottom picture should not need any further introduction for regular SOH visitors.

Great photos Huub, im going to Brussels in about 6 weeks time and thats deffinatly on my to do list,
i heard that the museum was being closed for a while for refurbishment, good to see its still open.

Brilliant photos!!

Re: the size of the battle, its so easy to forgot the sizes of aircraft, when I first saw the Stuka at Hendon I forgot how big it was. With todays single engined aircraft and even with the spit, mustang etc in mind its easy to forget that not all aircraft are equal.

The stukas bloody mahooooosive!
