shadow textures

browsed the backed up installed eto 1.0/1.1 folders. noticed a lot of the included standalones (like the ai spitfires) use a common generic shadow textures.
you probably might have noticed, but every aircraft i worked on since 2006 has it's own individual shadow texture. i did this to enhance visibily of aircraft's individual and unit markings and imho it worked, so my advice is to use the individual shadow textures rather than a generic one.

- moseditor is not that important, was only using this to view the mos file, did all changes by hexediting, and it was only bfexxx_t.dds and bfexxx_t_damage.dds to change, wasn't it??????

- getting the m3d viewer to work, without having to (re)install everything, would be great.

- how about replacing the pics and docs folder for every single plane by one big pdf file for all aircraft with screenshots, source pictures and short histories???

So you remember how to make a m3d viewer. Make a shortcut of the exe and under "target" put

"C:\CFS3 ETO Expansion\cfs3.exe" -m3dview-1280

or whatever place your CFS3 is. I'm not sure where the -1280 came from and some of mine don't have it while 2 do. I.m on Win10 Prof.

If you have the time for a giant pdf that would be good for working out aircraft to use in missions. However there are still a lot more of your other aircraft which need tidying up! :)

Cheers

James

-1280 defines the window size. If I remember correctly, default is 800*600, -1024 makes it 1024*800 and -1280 makes it...., yes you're right: 1280*1024!
Cheers

Ton, Unless you have other additions, I am going to do virtual pits, dynamic reticles and xdp additions to all the eto/w40 Bf109s for uploading. I will then wait for your final pdf(s) on these plus any overall readme you want to do before actually uploading here. I can do the remaining fs Bf109s later.

Skin Size

Just my tuppence worth - with my nice new WQHD monitor I find the skin size for a small fighter like the 109 does not need to be huge. Even some of the the ETO t.dds at about 683Kb look great, with the right specular settings. Sure 2048 on everything would be a bonus, but some of the crisp smaller skins look fine. The work on cockpits, gunsights and flight dynamics is more important IMHO.

Granted some of the early skins are a bit blurred and not up to scratch.

Yeah the eto/w40 Bf109 textures are good enough at 1024; only some of the older fs_bf109.v2 are a bit blurry.

I have already modified all the eto versions and working on the w40 now. Waiting for Ton to do some pdf stuff he might want to add for the whole group before I upload all here. I might leave the fs v.2 for al while as have to upgrade all the FMs as well.
