Good morning,

I just wanted to let everyone know that they were able to put in the stents, which makes the procedure permanent, however I will still have to return for checkups at three months, six months, and a year from now.

Although my back remains a little tight and I feel like am walking around like Igor (eye-gore) from Young Frankenstein, I'm in far less pain than I was expecting. They're going to check my neck and remove part of the bandage on my neck today when I go back to the Mayo if all goes well. I did not have any bleeding problems last night.

The only bad part was they put in a catheter during surgery to prevent me from having a distended bladder from the dye they were using, but I forgot about the consequences of that...until I had to urinate. That hurts worse than anything else!

But I'm doing okay.

Really good news Rami, in fact, 'bloody good news' as we might put it here in Oz!
I really found a catheter to be quite a bonus, just lie there and let the snake drain away with no need to go potty!
However, the removal process is not great.......you get the wax and water treatment! (As in the wax comes out of your ears and the water from your eyes). :biggrin-new:
And to return to the more important aspects, the minimal or no bleeding is good to know as well.
:encouragement:

Wonderful Andrew!

The fact that you're walking around so soon is great news.

I hope you will be out of the hospital before Christmas Day.

Kevin,

They discharged me at 6:15pm last night, not even an overnight stay. I guess that means I’m a quick healer.

Or insurance ran out.:a1310: That's what happens if you are medicare, so I have been told. Thank the LORD I am still able to have my company insurance.:adoration:

That's really good news Andrew :encouragement:. And try to get some physical and mental rest during a nice X-mas break.

Cheers,
Huub

Rami.........

...great news!! A GREAT Xmas present for you and your family. That is a lot netter than what you were contemplating when this started.
After that cath . If you think that the snake hurts now, give it a day or two. It sometimes REALLY hurts then. Enough that you would leave fingerprints in plumbing at a urinal!!!!!:biggrin-new: Had one for two weeks and glad the doc knocked me out to pull it! Swear he made the Irish curse worst!!!

A very happy X-mas for you & yours, Rami, and great to hear that all went well. Take care and give your body time to recover.

Fibber,

The catheter aftereffects stopped after about 72 hours or so. The plumbing is back to normal now. I also can tell the difference between the dilation I had before and the stent insertion; it really is like night and day.

Let me add my best wishes to all those already listed above. Great news indeed. Merry Christmas. Hope next year, the New Year is better one for you and your family.
Thanks too for all your efforts here at SOH.
