For those we love KAMIKAZE

I never knew of this cinema...from 2007. The battle scenes are extraordinary!
Are they computer generated ?
Thanks for posting these langereis.

Great find Langereis. It's amazing what can be done with computers. Those scenes really capture what must have been a horrific ordeal for both sides.

The thought of suicide is reprehensible by all thinking people. To commit it, even though you know the war is lost, is idotic. The Japanese people would be much better off forgetting these senseless acts.
I would remind you that there were thousands of my shipmates murdered by these stupid Kamikaze attacks.
Not something to celebrate less than a week after Pearl Harbor.

Very well directed and composed animations. I'd like to see the full feature, but "loving" kamikazes is a tough one for me personally...

"All the young men had the wonderful and beautiful mind", she said...and therein lies the shame of the legendary kamikaze. Wasting modern young men on an ancient, spiritualized, mythical tale of divine intervention to save the old empire, convincing these "wonderful and beautiful minds" that in some twisted, similiar fashion they can be the salvation of the modern empire. It never ceases to amaze me what governments can do with youth and cultural brainwashing.

Interested................

Ya...............I think we understand what you mean...........interesting maybe..........or interested in.........

but then I use the wrong words, and can be abit politically incorrect....................

here comes the hash ...........we going to get the Kabosh.....

From the point of view of image quality, it is really great. I love the care the filmmakers have had with the details of planes, equipment, uniforms, etc.

On the other hand, I have read most of the comments about the footages at Youtube. Hot (flamed indeed) discussions including rough wording. I see the issue is highly sensitive here too... perhaps 67 more years more have to pass.

Excellent computer graphics - I can see where the scenes (and the subject matter) would be disturbing to some folks. I'd like to see the entire film with English subtitles, like the stateside version of "Letters From Iwo Jima".

I've never understood the West's general contempt for the Kamikaze.
Just two fire bombing raids over Tokyo, March 9/10 1945, killed 83,000 Japanese.
At least with the Kamikaze, there was no so called collateral damage.
War is hell!

You convenintly forget that the Japanese started the war with their cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Kamakaze attacks were insane and without purpose. I would have like to see you put up that Tokyo argumant during WWII.

Boy is this what they have instore for us in the Future!WoW!

I know my PC cannot handel that amount of action at this momment. But I Iäm sure to want have it in the Future!

But I must say that the only way to learn from history is to face it head on.My Dad served onboard the USS Phoenix during the war.I don't think anyone here "celebrates" the use of kamikaze's during the war,it happened.

All we can do is hope we learn from the past, too many good men died on all sides.

People don't start wars,governments do......

I'm not a historical revisionist. Having said that...I'm entitled to my opinion as are you!

My two cents? It doesn't matter what we think. The Kamikaze and their commanders were doing what they thought was correct at the time. Given their culture of Bushido and loyalty to the Emperor, it should not have been unexpected, even in 1945. It was the last weapon left to them to try and salvage their disastrous position and it's part of history. It is something that no revisionist story line, political correctness or any number of recriminations can or should change.

If you want to research the topic, I suggest you go to the library and look for "Warriors of the Rising Sun" by Robert B. Edgerton. It is a good history of the Japanese military and military mind from the Boxer Rebellion to the end of WWII and it gives some insight into their culture of self sacrifice and their self-immolation in the Second World War.

The technical aspects of the film are outstanding... amazing really, and as I said above, it captures the frustration and horror from both sides. Keep in mind that CFS 2 is a combat flight simulator and this is a CFS 2 forum. The link to the film is not out of place here and while we shouldn't celebrate it, we flirt with the subject daily when we load up the sim. If one wants to, he is more than capable of replicating a Kamikaze at any time in many of the planes used by the Divine Wind so please take no umbrage at the film or its posting here.

Rockster must be a clairvoyant tonight as the thread is now closed.
