Hi all. I was just looking around at the Junkers Factory. He's got a good lookin' FS2002 Ford Tri-Motor for download.

Has anybody ever converted this babe for CFS2? Wouldn't mind givin' her a spin!

Cheers!:kilroy:

Thanks Pepe......I will, I will, I'll take 'er for a spin!:jump: Is it in the Archives by chance?

Pepe,

Once the MS FS 2004 has been converted, how do you get the glass to look clear? In many of my conversons I get a blue tent to the glass. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
msfossey

Is this bird available for download anywhere? To render the glass transparent you generally have to delete ( or rename) the 'glass' .bmp in the texture folder.

Oldwheat, I don't believe it is on any site for download. I used my copy of FS2004 to attempt the conversion. I always appreciate your efforts and thank you for responding.

Thought so. Question is Microshaft pickier about uploading FS2004 planes or has no one gotten around to it yet?

The MS FS9 DC-3/C-47/R4D has been converted to CFS 2 by a couple of people. I don't recall any uproar over that conversion. I no longer recall where I downloaded it from as it was some time ago; but other than the mirrored wing textures, it is a huge improvement over the CFS 2 Gooney Bird.

The old Simtech company had an FS 8 and FS 9 Ford Tri-Motor in the works five or so years ago, but it never materialized. I'd love to see the MS Ford Tri-Motor in CFS 2.

I agree.....If I had the skill, I'd do it myself, but.......I'm not the brightest star in the heaven's, fellas.

I'd like to see it on skis AND pontoons, as well as regular gear. We can only hope it will come along sometime soon.

I'd love to see a Ford Tri-Motor. I actually flew in one a few times over the Lake Erie islands off Sandusky, Ohio.

Ive made a start on converting it
long way to go
the control surfaces need stock animation fix
the VC is worthy of the same treatment
It needs a usable air file,
BTW, the glass on many fs9 stockers use few pixels on the main body texture
You can keep the DXT3 file format but need to edit the alpha channel
Its difficult to find were the glass is mapped
the best solution is to use "Aircraft Containment Manager" , (not free ware I'm afraid) to export the uv maps, then you can search them for very small window shaped polys.

The FS9 Trimotor is converted (kinda) & just as Simonu stated= the control surfaces are a no-go. Also, the FRs are double or triple those of the Primavesi version but are still dismal, around 37 or 40 on my PC.

I'll bet the old Ford Tri-Motor will make great eye candy for all of our North American airfields, both flying in and out, but parked on the ramps too.
