• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Forum auto subcribing me to threads?

Navy Chief

Is it possible that somehow my username could get auto-subscribed to a thread(s)?

I received an email, with a thread update to the CFS3 forum. Thing is, I do NOT remember ever subscribing to one. And not too long ago, I unsubscribed to the few thread I WAS subscribed to.

Maybe I did, and just don't recall. But wonder if anyone else is experiencing this?

Not really a problem, just curious.

I get some of these fore CFS2. Just ignoring them. Put it down to the crash late last year..

It is in your User Control Panel.

Click on User CP (upper left hand side of forum)

Then scroll down the list choose Edit Options

Change the option to auto subscribe to threads to NO

Save the settings at the bottom of the page

And ...

Make sure when using the forums tool icon on the right side of the display, that when you are marking the forums read, that you actually hit "Mark Forums Read" and not "Subscribe to Forum" They're right next to each other. :D

This drop down is on the main forums index page.

Hmm...this is an odd one.
Automatic thread subscription is turned off in your profile.

Can you go to your User Control Panel (User CP) and verify that your list of subscribed threads is empty? Even if it is, hit the "empty current folder" link anyway to see if that will help flush the system out.

Like NSS, I suspect it might be a leftover burp from the crash last fall...kinda like the random "edited by somebody else on a very old date" messages that pop up every now and then.

not to worry, I get it too, sometimes.
I just unsubscribe in the email and it's all good.
btw, it started after the crash.

Thanks all. I went to my CP and deleted/emptied the folder. No big deal if I am autosubscribed again. Just curious is all!

OH so is it the same thing as the "Edited by" information at the bottom of the thread.

That puts a new light on the issue.

If your post number had an subscriber to it the last time it may assign you that subscription.

Interesting

In that case you are correct just hit the unsubscribe

The odds of that happening should not be good. LOL

Keep up the Good Work NavyChief. :jump:

Get it all the time. Some of them give one side of admin forum threads...leaving me in suspense as to the next episode...which never comes:costumes:
