FPS too low on campaign.

I'll be getting an E8600, should be here and installed by Tommorow, so I'll let you know if I notice and difference. :p

great! dont forget to post I was just about to leave house an goto fry's an pick one up I can wait a day:applause:

Thanks Siggi!

I appreciate the offer, but I would also need a better PSU to run a newer or souped-up AGP card...I looked into this a few months back, and decided that, given the age of my motherboard, RAM, processor etc. I would be far better relegating my current PC to family use and RB3D, and putting all my savings towards a new one, particularly as it is a very stable and reliable setup for everything else (and I am not computer savy enough to mess around with it without causing problems). I am not so far off having enough now for a new dual core E8500 / 9800 GTX+ machine with 4 GB RAM and Vista, which I guess should run OFF (and BoB II) just fine.

I appreciate the offer though - very kind of you :)

"I've found the FPS hit due to airfields is not as severe in P3 as it was in P2" That is good news, SirMike :)

Bletchley

No worries mate, good luck with the new rig. :)

Ok here goes.
I got like 15-10 fps on campaign missions, and constant 30-25 ( have set the fps limit to 30) on quick combat. Thats strange... sliders 4/2/2/4/1
P4 3.2GhZ
ATI HD4670 512MB DDR3
3.5 GB RAM DDR2
Win XP SP2 32bit.

Thought it was kinda strange as the other ATI guys had fps probs here as well but I dont think that the campaign had anything to do with it..
Have tried all the tweaks here (in cfsconfig) and have set the resolution to max and the AA as well.
Any ideas?

Yah.... go Nvidia!

The answer to this radeon query may be given in this thread entitled

"The FPS Hit is Absolutely, Positively...."

Just installed my new processor afew mins ago, changed from an Intel Pentium D 940 3.2Ghz to an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33Ghz.

Here are my other components:

ATI Radeon HD 3870 512mb
2.0 Gb RAM
Windows XP SP2

Before changing Processors I was getting 25fps in non-busy areas and between 5 - 10 fps over the Frontline.

Now I'm getting 30fps in non-busy areas and 20fps over the frontline (Over Arras in April 1917).

Needless to say its a great improvement. :jump:

Also Im running with those tweaks that are mentioned such as disabling the Vertex and Index buffers / Write-Only Vertex and Index buffers, however they didn't have any effect on my FPS before so not sure if they do now.

Here's a Pic flying over Arras with the FPS meter on:
