What does 016.5 + .8Gs mean in the frame rate window?
Why does it drop to .07 or less when I get into the combat area in the DAF mission? It is running at .020 or more enroute to the combat area.I have all my apps shut down and only CFS 2 running.
CPU 1.7, 256mb video card & 1 GB ram.
 
Two(2) separate bits of info. (prob run together to save space)

"FRAMES/SEC = n" is the frame rate.

and then

"(+/-) n G's" is the gravity (G) force on the A/C (and pilot), ...either positive or negative.
 
You'll need a stronger rig to exploit the full power of CFS2 in a target-rich environment with fancy scenery to boot. Your mid-range system specs aren't giving you the data throughput needed to process a lot of scenery and moving objects fast enough, in addition to your own aircraft. Plus, assuming you're running XP or Vista, you have to consider all the silent background services still active and sucking memory even if you've shut down all foreground apps.

A good start for upgrading would be CPU 2.5+, 512mb video card & 2 GB ram.

Or... set the display settings/image quality to 4. Sacrifice display quality a little for more FPS. For example, do you really need aircraft shadows?
 
It was just that kind of IQ sacrificing that drove me to upgrading. Couldn't take it any longer. Running everything maxed out now and happy i made the changes. If your system is straining that hard HP, run the sim in window mode ---> Alt+Enter. You can pick up a boat-load of frames doing that, without hardware upgrading. I get 4 times more frames in window mode than full screen.

I suspected as much. A friend told me about a program called Game XP that is supposed to help shut down all processes not needed during sim play.
I am in the process of putting the old girl ( computer that is) out to pasture or to use elsewhere and building a new dual core with at least 2 GB ram and a 512 MB video card.:applause: Have the parts now going together. I am sticking with XP Home until the Windows 7 comes out & the bugs in it killed.
