Free SSW F-104G now on Simmarket; 1 day only!!

The same error exists on Belgian models/paints. paints for Beauvechain birds only have fighter-bomber load outs. paints for Kleine Brogel only have fighter load outs. Somewhere there must reside a config file that points to the wrong possible loadouts for different models/paints. I can't imagine that it can't be changed.

Gentlemen, read page 2 of the Fiat G91 texture related post here on SOH. You’ll find some useful links to download a different keyless installer from SSW and updating MS Visual Studio. That will get the 104 working correctly. The keyless installer from Simmarket will keep you stuck in demo mode.

OK, I got the engine started, the cockpit closed and the thing into the air...but how do I get the tiptanks, or any other tank for that matter, to show? Rockets no problem, but no tanks. Any suggestions? And where is the manual?
/QUOTE]

The manuals are in here: C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\SSW-FRF-104G\docs depending on where you installed the bird of course.

There's quite a few of them!

I think what you're looking for is in the aircraft.cfg. The aircraft.cfg is set up so that the atc_id for each livery uses a series of numbers and letters (helpfully explained in the .cfg itself) to identify which loadouts and VC are used, so it should be pretty straightforward to just change the entries for whatever liveries you want.

Installation went fine, but I got always "System not initialized, initialize manually". Sexy voice, but annoying on a permanent basis

...
Is this aircraft or installation concerning?

If not solved meanwhile:

If the Zipper is loaded into a scenario and appears without wingtanks, you have to set all tanks to "0" volume except for the center. After doing this, the voice confirmes that the zipper now is initialized correctly (don't know why, but it works to me...)

I had the model in FSX and love it over the years but didn't buy the update to P3Dv4 until it went on sale. Still a great model even though it's a bit aged not but I will be investing in the new TF-104 when they release it.

Ah! That would explain why certain default aircraft gave me troubles. Good find!

OK - got tip tanks (thanks for the fuel "zero" tip) and canopy closed, engine started, most systems running - enough for a few good circuits.

Remaining issues:

  • attitude indicator and HSI not energized
  • no lights showing, even though switched on.
  • I think there's a general electrical/generator step I've missed.
  • Also, I still keep getting a simconnect error at startup - not sure what that's inhibiting. Attack radar and such is for another day.
  • Lastly, I get a "unprotected version" flag at the top a few minutes into the session.

Sounds like I need to spend some serious time in the "zipper hints" and NORMPROC docs.

Otherwise, stores and such work. A truly lovely simulator, and a generous gift. This could very much be my next Edwards AFB go-to model - just have to figure out a few more bits and pieces.

cheers all,

dl

The attitude indicator and HSI are run through the LN-3 IRS, which is on the right side console. Turn the switch to "Align", and you should see a 60 second countdown appear in the tooltip. Once that 60 seconds has elapsed, turn the switch to "NAV", and then the HSI and attitude indicator will work normally. I usually do this before closing the canopy, since the canopy latch lever covers the LN3 knob when it's locked.

As for the generators, they're located under the red guarded switches on the right side of the cockpit, just above the oxygen switches. If one or both isn't on, you should have the caution lights for the inoperative generators illuminated after the engine is running.

Ive deleted it just after 24hrs, just along with the others. theyre not for me, the unprotected copy thing after editing the cfg drives me nuts and along with the gun firing when cold and dark post cfg edit

it might be a great product for some, its restrictions arent for me

What are you guys using for your P3D default aircraft? I had that problem way back and I think that was the issue. I use the F-22 (still).

Yes, I also have the F-22 as default. I'll try loading a flight with that and then switch to the F-104 to see if that makes any difference.

OK, so you first have to empty the tanks before you can attach them and fill them..interesting logic.
And ctrl-E works, but only from the outside..interesting logic
and I'm not sure if it allows for repaints, and I don't think there is a paintkit, so I did something anyway: D-8061 "Happy Hooker". I did the tail art a bit larger, otherwise it was just too small for my taste. Not sure if I'll upload it, I could only make it visible by replacing the original textures.

So when I first loaded this aircraft on Saturday the engine was running. Now that I loaded it a second time it loads cold & dark, which is fine, but I can not find (And not in any of the documents supplied either!) where the starter switch is located? Any hints?

Starter in the left console just above the landing lights. (Two buttons) You have to push them for a few seconds.
Another tip is to start the engine you should start the external power before (just do this first of all to be safe), wich can be found in the left console (button near the seat) just to the right of the thrust manete. :encouragement:

Sorry to be a pain. I can't for the life of me find a manual for this plane. Anyone know where it may have been placed on installation? Thanks.
