Freeware B-29 Skins coming soon

All done! Just need to package them up and upload 'em (MajorMagee, any objection to including your modified model file?).

The impetus for the pack, a Korean war version, 'Spirit of Freeport', 19th Bomb Squadron, 22nd Bomb Group, Kadena, Okinawa 1950

Updated WW2 baseline version, 'Hellon Wings', 677th Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group, West Field, Tinian, May 1945

Updated WW2 night version, 'Lovely Leta', 430th Bomb Squadron, 502nd Bomb Group, Northwest Field, Guam, August 1945 (the black undersides are now glossy as they should be but it still suffers from the bottoms of the wings just mirroring the tops, so they're not black as they should be)

To do battle over Europe with the new German jets, a fictitious ETO skin based on the B-17 I've actually flown in, 'Yankee Lady'. Imagining the 534th Bomb Squadron turning in its B-17s for B-29s in an extended war, I've created 'Yankee Lady 2'.

I have no objections. Nice job.

There was a Tu-4 skin for this that I picked up long ago. Not sure where I found it from as the text files that came with it are just the original Beta model credits from 2002.

Lovely job!

Any chance while you're at it of an RAF Washington and a Soviet Tu-4 Bull?

I toyed with doing an RAF one (RAF fan that I am) but my reasoning was that if the war had gone on, the RAF would not have received them until afterwards as they would have been earmarked for the USAAF and there was no real need in the RAF at the time. If I do one, it will be along fictitious lines like 'Yankee Lady 2'. All the Washington schemes are peacetime ones which is not what they would have looked like during an extended WW2. I don't believe either the Washington or the Bull ever saw combat, did they?

I'll ponder in any case . . .

As far as I'm concerned, peacetime ones are fine! Who's to say that war might not have broken out against the USSR in the early 1950s?

yum, excellent looking B-29 free add-on skins ;) will be a good shiny target for the Lippisch ramjet fighter!

I'm slowly turning these in separate stand-alone installs. I'm toning down the light part of the _r.dds files to reduce the reflections so they have less of a brand new museum polish finish, but other than that they look great. Thank you!

Looks like everyone has discovered that they've been released! I was at work and did not see the approval email until just now.

As for standalone planes, that sounds great. You may want to bundle the a-bombs in with them. If you need anything from me, just let me know. :)

Can you post the values you are using ?:jump:

I was inspired by your work to make a Photoshop skin template for the Firepower B-29 today so I could create a new Korean War skin for it.

No Sweat - FEAF, 12th AF, 19th BG, 93rd BS, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, June 1950 - May 1954

Even the Firepower B-29 has some limitations from how they mapped the model, hence the incorrect black upper turrets, but that seemed the better choice than leaving the lower ones bright.

A nice skin for the FP B-29a in the ETO and PTO would be fantastic in the future maybe, kind Sir. Or some stand alone B-29's for the freeware version would be most welcome.
