Freeware F-111 vs Payware?

I believe there is a freeware F-111, as I have seen many mods listed on AVSIM. I am curious how it compares to the Payware model?

Hi Chief.

This might get you part of the answer. And you might want to look around Steve's site for more insight on his package.

I have all except the Just Flight version. Each has its pros and cons as expected and all are good.

IMO the freeware is a little outdated by FSX standards, but Steve continues to make improvements. If you are looking for a variety of skins, then the Virtavia or the Just Flight are a good bet. And if I remember correctly (its been awhile since I flew any of these) the FSX.com version requires a manual startup, meaning Ctrl-E will not work as with the others.

For me for sure F-111E of GKS is on the top:

... but I havent this model of Virtavia. Im happy user of this from GKS : ) . Very good 3D model, very good textures, VC modeling, some of systems but it isnt hardcore machine as system management. Quite good. Check this videos: http://www.f111-fsx.com/index.php/buyers-guide-compare-autos/1242-faq .

Nice free model is here: http://www.rikoooo.com/en/downloads/viewdownload/51/669 .

The SHRS model sure does get great marks, and it's free! The GKS model is out of my price range, unfortunately......NC

That's because it's the old Fs9 Alphasim F-111; if you are looking for a native FsX model, payware is the only option.

And all three companies have different models, so that may be something to look at before yuo make a choice. GKS does the E model, JF the A and C models, while Virtavia has the C ,E, F, G, EF, and FB models included.

.....but if you had to pick just one.....?

I picked the Virtavia model, because it was on sale at PC aviator at the time.. ;)

The JF model has a free demo which I tried, and it's not bad but not much better than the Virtavia offering IMHO. The GKS model I only know from screenshots.

In case you haven't made a decision yet, the GKS model is now 50% off at Simmarket. (Both packages!)

I'm not found of Virtavia products, so the choice was easy for me :)
Just got the GKS.
Now to see if I can install it into P3D...

Hi Zsolt
Is the repaint for the EF-111A Raven available to download because there are not many repaints for that model.

Regards Paul Day.

Comparison is normally to be avoided, but here are the GKS and Virtavia offerings in similar positions:

The GKS definitely looks more 'worn'.
