• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

I noted that some sites and content has vanished, which leads to the question, should we be thinking of saving these files here and on other sites to preserve them. I'm thinking that the members here likely have zips backed up, perhaps we should keep a group thread running to identify, locate, get permissions, and UL to at least 2 servers to safeguard this stuff for the future.
For instance, ISDT is gone, and with it a number of nice models, including the King Air B200. FS Northwest is a dead end, and a number of nice files:pop4:; the native Bell 47, for instance. Garrish's tree library is gone, and not on FS.com anymore, and thats a important library for a whack of scenery. And I managed to find a few of Swedbird's FS2004 helicopters, though I don't use FS9, some of them work well in FSX, and only one-the QH-50-is up on other sites(that I've seen-hovercontrol)
What do you think.
 
Its not a case of should, but more a case of can you. Legally it might come down to you having to ask the original author for permission to upload to a site, obvously if sites have gone, maybe they have too...
 
There's also the issue of where such files could be stored.
There certainly isn't the capacity here for even a fraction of them.

There's also the point that if the author decides to take them down that's their right.
