I don't seem to be able to download. I hope there will eventually be a site you can just click and download from?

Looks like a fun one to fly.

Where is this repaint???

Coming soon. I still got to add the rest of the labels and such. The mapping is a little hinky, so I got some things to work around. Won't be long.:mixedsmi:

It's actually supposed to have the meatballs and red and white rudder stripes, however the rudder mapping wont allow horizontal stripes. It's kind of a fictional paint, I guess.

The read me file says to replace the .air files but there are no .air files listed.

Did I miss something in the download?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

There is a separate folder contained within the download titled 'FSX cfg'. When you open this you get two folders, one for the J2F-4, and one for the J2F-6. Take those aircraft.cfg files and air files and replace the ones contained in the independent aircraft folders.

You will also have to go into the FSX J2F-4 aircraft.cfg file, and remove the 1's from the Panel=1 entries for both of the J2F-4's. Or you could also rename the panel folder as Panel.1. Otherwise, because of this error in the FSX J2F-4 aircraft.cfg file, those variants will not show up.

I did this and the models show up in the menu view but won't show in the preview pane and give a "model failed to load" error box when you try to 'fly now'.

ideas?

For the J2F-4? A bit hard to troubleshoot without more information, but make sure you see the following within the Grumman_J2F4_Duck aircraft folder.

- Check that the model folder is named model.1
- Check that within the model folder, you see a model file called J2F4, and a .cfg file named model, within it written normal=J2f4
- Having checked these, make sure to check that in the aircraft.cfg file for the J2F-4's, that it reads model=1 for both of the textures/variants.

This is how it should be from a base original installation.

BTW...if anyone is still looking for a great soundset, I think this one very closely matches that of the real aircraft...Go to Flightsim.com, and download T28snz.zip. Then go here and download the updated sound files for this soundset, by Javis: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=2911 And install as outlined.

As most probably know, the T-28 uses much the same engine type that the Duck does, and I have found that the sounds produced by this soundset combination, are very close the same sounds you can hear on Youtube videos of the real things performing.

I know that this is off topic, but I can say that I am extremely disappointed in the dishonest way that Icarus gold is handling the recent investigation. I think that This is an event we can learn from too. Developers, not that I think anyone else on here would do this, as you all seem to be honest people, keep in mind that when you bash a website, and members of a community in which you generate a good percent of your sales, you make yourself look stupid, and lose almost all of that market. It is disgusting for people to stoop to the level of dishonor that has occured here. As a direct result of this childish behavior, I will never purchase a product from this company, and have no love for any company that pulls these kind of stunts. If you want the love of the people, that is not how you win it.

I also want to commend the admins for their swift action, their solid investigation, and sound judgement on this issue.

Thanks for the ideas on possible sound sets ! :)

I could try it finally, it's really a great bird.
There are some switches in the VC that are not clickable, so it seems I can only start the bird with CTRL+E... the handling is quite nice as well, excepted the rudder which is waaaaaaaay over-reactive. I could perform an horizontal 360, better than any Su-35 :bump:
The bird is quite fast too when fully loaded with fuel, but I still need to get used to it. Didn't try any carrier landings yet either...

Check on the above....still no joy.

previews show fine in thumbnail view to select aircraft but when you do the view doesn't load in the 'preview pane' and when you try to 'fly now' the 'model failed to load' error box comes up.

Thanks Bomber_12th, I have no .air files in the FSX cfg file. When flying, the plane is all over the sky especially in the roll axis. Is there supposed to be a .air file?

Thanks,

Tom

Lateral-G,

Make sure the aircraft.cfg file entries for the J2F-4 look like this:

And that your folder configuration looks like this:

If it is still not working, try replacing the model files with the originals contained in SWingman's original .zip file of the release.

I think it's the J2F Installer Package (.air ? ) file that's corrupted. Your post jogged my memory on a problem I had similarly with another aircraft model that wouldn't load...

I'll have to do some checking later today when i get home.

I know that this is off topic

Jp

You're right. It IS off topic. And the fact that this is being brought up again, is NOT needed. Those interested in either model will download it and fly it or them for what they are. To sum it up, people do have minds of their own and can make their own decisions. MORE BASHING IS NOT NEEDED!! MOVE ON
