• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

There is a very special relationship that survives the Navy's Aviation Candidate Officer School at Pensacola, FL, with the charming USMC Drill Instructor who is our "mother" for 16 weeks.

I made contact with my Marine Drill Instructor after 30 or so years. He retired as an 0-5 from the USMC. We exchange emails. When we meet, this is the way is will happen:

Him: On the ground!! Right now!! Give me 20 (push-ups), you g*dd**m maggot!!
Me: Pardon me, Sir, but I am a Commander in the US Navy!
Him: Oh s**t! Well, get up and let's go have a beer.

(I stand up, still squirming, as I did in AOCS. ((THIS IS TRUE - HE ACTUALLY SAID THIS TO ME - "G*dd**n it, Sanders!! You're squirming like a dog trying to sh*t a peach pit!")) )

Me: OK, the beer sounds good, but you're buying, a**hole.
Him: Yessir. You're an a**hole too.
Me: Yeah, I know it, Col.

Then we go in the O Club and make crude remarks about the Air Force. Everyone there yells in affirmation.

USAF: 8,000 ft. runways beside golf courses. Parachutes to slow the planes. Easy landings.

Navy: 400 ft. steel deck with planes parked on both sides. Rain. Night. Low fuel. Controlled crashes. Another day/night in the life. We signed up for it, and we do it. And, we love it. FLY YOUR OWN JET!!!!
