I thought when MSFS starts, and I get the "looking for updates" screen, that it would install any updates. Apparently not. Would someone please let me know how to update this sim? Thank you!! NC

Note: I purchased the sim (Standard version) from the Microsoft Store. I went to my account, but do not see any links for updating....

Go to the MS Store app (not the website) and pull up your version. That should trigger a small update. Once that's done, launch the sim and it should pull the large update. Restart the sim, then go to the Marketplace and "Buy and Download" the Japan package.

and then get ready for the main 8.5 gigabyte update to download on restart.. ( They certainly picked an odd way to do this ).

Thanks all, I am downloading now. Japan update installing, but wasn't there a small update prior to this one? NC

I got my MSFS through Steam. Update and Japan took less than an hour. And no, I don't have a fiber connection. Just a middle of the road 100 Mbps.

I have a rather old wireless access point (thought about calling it a WAP, but...), and the Ethernet ports run faster, so I connected a cable to run the big update. I think I was up and running after about 25 minutes.

Japan scenery downloaded and installed rather quickly, the patch took a Little longer on the install and the SDK downloaded in a fraction of the install time. Not bad for a 300 baud modem. :biggrin-new:

Just kidding, 300mb high speed.
