FS Global Ultimate - Next Generation

Hi,

this new version of FS Global Ultimate was released a few weeks ago - did anyone try or buy it here? I am interested in buying it but I want to make sure that Southeast Asia is in a higher resolution than FreemeshX.

Cheers,
Mark

Mark, I get really confused about which version of FS Global is what. I have FS Global 2010 and have updated once. The installer is dated 10/9/15. I have seen the product with Ultimate by the title. Mine came from the Pilot Shop and was purchased from the FlightSim Store. I love this scenery upgrade. Very large file of about 25 Gig.

Tom,

FS Global Ultimate - Next Generation is the newest version of the product. You might be eligible for a reduced cost update btw. From what they write there is much to expect, but the description is a bit unclear wether the high res mesh extends over SE Asia or it is the standard 30m. If the latter applies, I don't need it and FreemeshX will suffice.

For those interested, they have a reduced price on the global version (80 Gigabytes!!!) until month's end.

Cheers,
Mark

My friend bought it, picture is here: https://s30.postimg.org/4kbm2go4h/20170120_182735.jpg but it looks like FS Global Ultimate series in total, not in parts (Mesh = 5 m) + some of new small regions.
I stay with FS Global Ultimate series. Whole my old mesh has 101 Gb: http://www.fly2pilots.com/cms/Ui/Pa....aspx?id=9788913f-483d-48c5-bdfd-67c6fa3ee1db ( Eur, NA, SA, Africa, Asia, Oceania ect).
Something like this:

BUT if You use 10 m mesh or more I advise to change it (but be prepar for some of anomaly).

Interesting

So is Global simply mesh for the whole world? Are there compatibility issues with FTX Global or Vector?

Lonewolffee1, I just upgraded from FS Global 2010 to Ultimate with the mentioned discount. The only way to purchase this is the DVD version. Shipped once payment is verified. I have Vector installed also. The two are completely compatible.

Thanks for the info Stovall. How do you like it?

I actually just bought FS Global 'next gen' about a week ago and will post some screens when it arrives. If there's a requested location, let me know...I was planning the Pacific Northwest, Alps, and maybe Colorado.

Yes only supplied by mailed DVD. Lonewolffee1, because my version of Ultimate hasn't shipped yet I can't tell you how I like it. FS Global 2010 is fantastic. Looking at Yo Yo's pictures I am looking forward to enhanced mesh. Request any location you want to JohnC and he will post an image of the area. Thanks John for doing that.

Yeah I know, im not keen on ordering dvds from another country as it takes many many moons and sometimes they never arrive just like my under armour boots ive been waiting 18mths for

however i found a local re seller her in OZ

DVDs came in safe, and I have to say this is one impressive addon. It is hard to convey the depth of field that is added by the near field and far field contours as they shift against one another, but the clouds add a little contrast/background at least. A short video may be in order.

Here is a first set of screen grabs from the North Cascades with OrbX PNW and the mesh resolution set to 1 meter:

Currently the exchange rate comes out to A$115.00 plus loose change and shipping on top of that.
Aside from the ridiculous shipping costs Matt, the uncertainty factor is a right PITA.
So who is the enterprising merchant in OZ?
:encouragement:

"Here is a first set of screen grabs from the North Cascades with OrbX PNW and the mesh resolution set to 1 meter" - John, I think what you're seeing there is purely the effect of Orbx PNW, which I believe will override FSGlobal when the former is activated.

OrbX provides the textures and landclass (locations of rock faces, lakes, etc) while FS Global provides the shape of the terrain (ie mesh). So they work together, not separately.

Here is another set of screen grabs from the Southern Alps (Nice to Cuneo). The landclass is being generated by OrbX Global Vector which was also developed by FS Global (according to their website), so Vector and NextGen should get along pretty well in theory. I tried to take reasonable fair screenshots and focus on the average appearance. The location of the rock faces are consistently well placed (trees/greenery on gentle slopes and rock faces on steep slopes), while the roads and streams are bit mixed.

On the whole, I'm still quite happy....but everyone has their own standards especially for such an expensive addon.
