Hi

I have owned the excellent Fs Heli Lama for years now but never tackled the repaint of my favourate scheme. Now i have almost completed the painting i am having problems with the way the light hits the model ( sun coming from below on some parts!) - I have tried many different options. Appart from "abandon it" - any advice guys?

Gajit,

Just a thought,..but try toning down the alpha and/or specular shine in those areas of your concern

I was having similar issues with a simple all white paint job that was used on a Lama that operated in Yellowstone National Park, I was trying to replicate.
Like OleBoy suggested, I ended up trying to use darker grays for the specular shine, and was having some limited success.
It was a lot of trial and error testing.
But like a lot of repaint projects, it went on too long, I got interrupted, and never continued on it.

You have my respect, gajit.
That paint kit has good detail, but let's say nicely, it is very challenging to use. :icon_lol:
After working with it, I understand why there have never really been too many repaints made for the Lama.

Your absoulutely correct in every word you say re the paint kit - i might have to ask matey at Fs Heli to advise as i am a noob when it comes to spec shine etc - or just give up LOL :salute:

Yeah, I am too in regards to spec shine.
At one point I messed up something and ended up getting an all dark gray helicopter, took me a couple hours to figure it out what I did wrong. :isadizzy:

You're welcome to pick apart the spec .dds I have for mine.
Just PM me with your email, if you want I'll send it to you.

I took a look at my attempt just now, looks closer to finishing than I remember...

Hi Dain

Tx for the file - your a gent :salute:

Peter at Fs Heli also gave me advice. His suggestion was to make the Spec.dds dark in comparison with the main paint. It has worked and i can now get on with cleaning up this paint.
