FS Panel Studio Help

I'm slowly getting back into Flight Simming with a fresh install of FSX SE and trying to get my old tweaking tools back to working from backups. I've managed to get FS Panel Studio (pay version not the demo) back going and when starting, I keep getting a "can not locate cabarc file" error message. I've got the file in the folder with FSPS, but I guess it needs to go somewhere else.

Any help?

Thanks in advance

Willy

Hi Willy, I just searched my C: drive for 'cabarc' and I can only find one instance which happens to be an 'EXE' file located in the root of 'C:Windows' as shown below:

cabarc.jpg

I have my copy of 'FS Panel Studio' installed into 'C:\FSX Tools\FS Panel Studio' and it loads just fine for FS2004, FSX and P3D v4.5.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Larry, I'll give that a try later on. I think FSPS is working, it's just giving me the cabarc error message.

Odd, is this an old install you are trying to resurrect or a new install? If the former can you try re-installing to the same location in case it's a file/registry issue?

New comp using my original installer with the purchase key. It's a Win 11 system, so I'm thinking that could be a big part of it. Apparently these days Windows uses makecab instead of cabarc. I'm wondering where FSPS is actually looking for cabarc. I've put a copy where you have it with no joy.

FSPS will open gauges that are in a folder vice a cab file.

I'm going to install the demo version which I had working on here to see if I can find the cabarc file for it.

Demo still works great. So the problem is apparently in my old installer.

File this under I don't have a clue what's going.

The Demo works fine.

Now that I have both installed at the same time in separate folders, they both work fine.

No idea what happened or while, but as long as it works, I'm good with it.

Good evening,
not sure about my comment to be helpfulle as I use Windows XP
I did a search and found CABARC in my FSPS folder ( C:\Programme\FS Panel Studio )
and than in my windows System32 ( C:\WINDOWS\system32 )
If you need the file I can try to send it you in a zip

Best Regards

Michael

Thanks Micheal, but I have had the file. I just couldn't get the full version of FS Panel Studio to find it. I did put a copy there as well as a few other locations and a few others. But for some reason with the Demo version installed as well, the problem went away.

Good evening Willy,
astonishing that in fact to run your full FSPS you need to have the demo version in the background
Nevertheless the main thing is that you can use it.
I believe that for FS2004 there is no alternative to this tool to work on panels and also gauges
Mine is some long years old but without I do not know how to make my panels and gauges

Happy flying
