After what has proven to be the most challenging sound project to date I am proud to make this new soundset available for all discerning 'jet jockies'.

The sounds are all authentic recordings of J-79-GE-17 turbojet powered Phantoms and I have aimed at retaining the characteristic quircks and feeling of power accociated with this legendary aircraft.

Special Reheat sound effects have been incorporated to enhance its awesome might. So please do take the time to check out the installation procedures. It is after all for your enjoyment!

So light those fires up and get cracking!

:salute: Hi Paul, I spent literally the whole night trying to UL in zip form but unfortunately received a message each time to the effect that zip files are no longer accepted.

I'm on a very low speed wireles con, but if no one else is able to help you, I'll see what I can sort out.

Another great set, Nigel. Buuuuuuuutt, I do have a problem with the new airfile messing with my autopilot.

I followed all the instructions updating pack 1. everything went swimmingly until I activated the autopilot. Altitude and Speed controls worked fine, but the Hdg switch initiated a non-stop roll to port that could only be stopped by turning off the hdg switch.

I went back to the original airfile and the Hdg swicth behaved normally. So for now will do without the added touches from the mod airfile.

Hope I explained the issues clearly. It is in the wee hours of the morning over here.


Edit: I realized pack 3 did not have an altered airfile and it flies jest fine with the new sound set. So I have to assume the issue is confined to the the new airfile.

gribouil: I don't have the Cloud9 Toom but I'd like to hear from anyone tying out my sounds on that version.
Give it a trial run gribouil.
If the Reheat sound wont show, just replace the afterburner fx in the 'lights' section of the CFG with those of the Virtavia model.
However, this may not be neccessary as many afterburner fx use the same sound wav. files. This was the case with Ito Kazanori's F-4. The sounds all work perfectly without any changes whatsoever.
(edit): I've just flown Dino Cattaneo's legendary F-14; the Reheat sounds show up automatically here too...tearing the air!

racartron: I admire your thoroughnes my friend; we should team up I reckon! Your valid and helpful observations as per usual.
The problems you encountered are due to me basing the airfiles replaced in pack 1 and pack 2 on that of pack 3!!!
So if I'm not mistaken, make a copy/paste of the 'autopilot' CFG entry from pack 3 into the other two. This should cure the problem. And I know you'll make back-ups first - its in your methodical nature! :salute:

I've pulled the F-4 fleet into the hanger for the moment as I'm up to my armpits with all the Ford Tri-Motor repaints. But I'll try your suggestion in the next day or so.

Regarding teaming up; I thought that's what we are already doing:guinness:

Had Seasick Steve's latest on earlier, my downstairs neighbour rang up, wanting to borrow the CD!
You only hear quality sounds being played loud from my premises!:jump:
 
ooooooh this just makes my entire year, now i can go photo recce the aegean with a great soundtrack.... J79's, the only engine that smokes as much as i do :icon_lol:
