For all who had their FS-internal weather App deactivated because FS2004 Support ended,
There’s now a solution to reactivate it, based upon NOAA active Weather Source.

only downside: it only works above 2000ft agl.

if you still have your FS-Internal Weather app linked to: fs2k.zone.com (which doesn’t work anylonger) you can now link it to: wx.flightunlimited.net
which should then work again.

Just go to your FS9.cfg (wherever you’ve safed that),
- then go to: Section [WEATHER]
- then look for: WeatherServerAddress=

Delete: “fs2k.zone.com" and overwrite it with: “wx.flightunlimited.net"

Thats it! - Safe your FS9.cfg, open your FS9 and load the FS-internal weather app to: "change Weather every 15 minutes”

However, i gotta say as a longtime User of FSRealWX V3.0 i still prefere that one… as it seems to be more accurate and having more layers covered. Also the Winds seem to be more accurate. Eventhough, the creator of wx unlimited states, that he’s added Stations with winds aloft their winds seem to be brutal sometimes…

Example:
I’ve tested wx unlimited in Seattle yesterday: had a 200knt. Crosswind on 34R, where FSRealwx only added a 13knt crosswind, hahaha… pretty unrealistic. Eventhough the Creator of WX Unlimited adds to the website, that the Data Source comes from NOAA as well as the Data is from NOAA in FSRealWX V3.0.

hi would love too , but I wouldn't know a dxt3 or dxti if they ran over me .im only at the stage of swapping texture files internally. even then I have to rename the original aircraft so I have several defaults in one file. while your there, how much ram does fs9 need and how much above...

One big thing to remember about NOAA's weather reports, they mostly cover only the continental US, Alaska (?), Hawaii and (maybe?) Puerto Rico and Guam. I was a heavy user of NOAA weather back in the FS98 Real Weather days but the system has become heavily automated since then to the point where is was supposed be dropped in favor of commercial weather reports over the last 20 years. :unsure:

In other words, take NOAA with a big grain of salt. Update periods may have changed to Daily, Weekly, or When We Get Around To It. :indecisiveness:

It actually covers worldwide now… same as in FSRealWX V3.0 for example… has worldwide coverage as well… and is pretty accurate when i compare it to other real weather sources… or when i compare it to the actual weather where I live.

I just tried adding the URL to my FS2002 cfg file.
Don't quote me on it yet, but it sure looks like its working. :wiggle:
I'm in south-central Iowa and flying out of Ankeny Reg'l.
The temp is accurate, the clouds look about right and my wind direction, speed, and baro all changed.
I'll run some more tests and let you all know how it goes.

This would be the first real weather for FS2002 in a long, long time. :ernaehrung004:
 
Ah heck, its raining heavily around Des Moines and I wanted to see if it really changed the weather in FS2002.
The clouds and rain? Not so much. :banghead: Still, its nice to have something that doesn't freeze the sim.
