Fs2004 only Fokker Dr1

Lothars plane in in the pack as well. I had the oppertunity to meet the cousin of the Red Barron, he was a fighter pilot as well. He moved to Canada and became a professor in the Calgary university. He told me stuff I was bown away about those guys, the flying circus and the war. He showed me a old photo of him and Lothar and Manfred all sitting on the ground goofing off infront of a Albatros with wine bottle and cards...lol. It was really cool and a huge moment in my life to talk to him. Living history. He told me that untill you got 20 or more victories you were considered a rookie...LOL!!
I spent the after noon with him at his farm and showed him the dr1 I had just released (then new) , the web site, the SOH or Net Wings at the time and every thing. He was amazed that people still loved the planes so much and how popular the Fokker DR1 was then and now.

Lp-my web guy just told me the New dr1 just went light speed, It just hit 10k in down loads....whew.. thats incredible for us
we really appreciate your support of our work! He said the Fokker dr1 just hit light speed----I guess thes means its doing good....lol!!

Thanks!
Tom Wood
Lead Designer.

Apparently the replicas are almost as tricky to fly as the originals. My hangar landlord used to fly one back in the day here in SoCal with Art Scholl for use in ABC TV shows and some movie work. TJ said the little bugger was alright for the longest time and then suddenly would decide to try to kill you with a snap roll or something else.
Of course a modern engine with proper throttle and carburetor control made life quite a lot easier than the originals.

The plane Tom flew is still around despite ending up on her back three times. Once under his "control" and twice since.
I think she was for sale not too long ago.

Thanks for the opportunity to fly history Tom.

Cheers
Stefan

nice photo, the lead pair represent Manfred and Lothar von Richtofen, Lothar being the less acknowled but better pilot... :salute:

Hello again - Here is a link to Peter Jackson's Aviation Heritage Museum at Omaka (near Blenheim, South Island NZ) with some good pix- They have a genuine piece of fabric from the Red Baron's DR 1 crash - my pic is not very good as it is behind glass and in rather dim light.
