FS2004 with a great range of aircraft

Good morning gents,
yes storage was a problem.. So many interesting planes and sceneries.
So I had to make a choice
a. scenery only central europe with mainly france and germany and some interesting "outside" sceneries,
b. Just the planes I will fly mostly
c. on the external drive, the rest of scenery I do not use for the moment but can be reactivated if there will be some interest
d. at first I did put all my planes I would not fly in the next time. at last to get some organization I had to make different
"reserve hangars as early planes, wwI axis planes, wwI allied planes, interwar civil planes, interwar warbirds, wwII allied planes, wwII
axis planes, modern military planes, classic airliners, and helicopters
e and last not least 2D panels I have published and those I still work on or whish are personal
The xternal disk is getting to be near to full, must look to find another one lol
Yes FS2004 is really great and still have big potential to continue to live
Thank to all who work to keep FS2004 at life and also thanks to the users who still are fans of this venerable sim
Best Regards
Yours
Michael Vader

Hi Michael, it's the aircraft that slows loading time, not scenery.
What you can do, if your FS2004 is on your main C:\ drive, is to move all the add-on scenery to your external drive. This will save some space on the C:\ drive.
All you have to do is to tell the FS2004 library where the add-on library is.
I had a huge amount of scenery to add in & I'm using FS Scenery Manager v1.8 from Avsim

This lets you add many sceneries at once, before running the sim. So I would tell it to Scan a directory & add automatically to FS2004, before starting the sim. Once that is done, I would start FS2004, & the new scenery has been automatically added into the library. It just makes it easier & quicker. No need to start FS2004, add scenery to the library, shut down & restart FS2004.

Hi Robin,
The "sanglier is just a repaint of the "Bounty"
I' m not sure if I found this repaint on the net or if I did it
But of course I will have a further look on it and post it.
The Concrneau scenery, I got it from Bernard.
The idea to put all the scenery on a extern hd is quiet well I will see that the day I can buy a new extern HD.
In any case for the moment I just do fly over germany and france. And most time just short hops to verify what I
am working on. So many projects and I have difficulties to finish one as in a certain way all are a part of one project. I do not know if one day I could came to an end.
Every time I believe that now it is well I find a new detail what doesn' match or could be done better LOL

One more: Joe Binka. He gave us that fabulous Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome scenery and several great airplanes. His Cessna 195 comes to mind. Sadly he let himself get run out of the hobby when someone posted a beta version of a plane they were testing for him and he got so upset that he left the hobby. Or maybe more likely, just stopped sharing his creations.

Also his Grumman Widgeon, in both Radial and Inline versions! :)

Thanks, Michael, appreciated. Actually, I have my whole FS2004 sim on my external 2TB drive. My laptop only has a 500GB SSD drive, and my FS2004 install is about 290GB. When I had a few FS2004 install, I shared scenery files between the sims, so I did not need to duplicate any scenery files. I wish I could do that with my aircraft folder.

I had forgotten the Crusader & Mirage's from Roland Laborie & team.
Really stunning aircraft with plenty of detail & functionality.
The docs are all in French, but worthwhile to work out!

Kazunori Ito & Mike Stone.. Probably every single one of us has had their add-ons in our sims!
Both(?) no longer with us.

I don't know if Ito has gone west. I know that he had eye trouble and was losing his vision, and when last heard from several years ago (if not longer) he didn't think he'd be able to continue with the hobby much longer. I don't know how old he is/was, but I recall that quite a few years ago he was old enough to be retired.

I'm not sure as well. It has been many years since we have heard anything about him
We also lost Roy Chaffin, of B-25 fame, a couple of months ago.
