FS9 C47 Conversion help?

Someone, I don't remember who, had written step by step instructions for fixing the window textures on the FS9 C47 conversion. I have Simonu's conversion files but I don't remember how to create the alpha channel and then apply it for new textures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to use other skin sets for this plane you need to use Martin Wrights DXTBmp program get it here to change the alpha channels of the bitmaps.
Alpha channels are greyscale images "superimposed on/ hidden inside" extended DXT bitmap formats.
In FS9 these alpha channels represent reflective shine. In CFS2 the alpha channel is used for transparency.
The glass is mapped to a small green square on Douglas_DC3_1_T.bmp, the corresponding area of the alpha channel should be very dark grey, all else should be white. The bitmap should be saved as "extended DXT3".
You can use DXTBmp to extract and copy the alpha images from the skins that came with the CFS2 ported plane.
