FSC Newbie Question(s)

I've run CFS2 and CFS3 for awhile, but I've just intstalled FSX. May I pose some dumb questions:

1. Is there a way to print the entire manual without having to go to the Learning Center and print each individual page?

2. Is there a way to set FSX so that the engine is off when Free Flight Starts?

3. Are there any particularly good free download sites for civil/commercial FSX complete aircraft?

Thanks.

If you navigate to your '....\FSX\FSWeb\LearningCenter' folder you will find a whole bunch of HTML files that you can open in your browser and then print from there. These are the same files that open within FSX when you go to the 'Learning Center'.

2. Is there a way to set FSX so that the engine is off when Free Flight Starts?
Start the 'Default flight', turn off the engine and batteries and then save the flight as 'Default'. Your cockpit will be cold and dark when you start any flight.

NOTE: The batteries in FSX have an extremely limited life so do not sit with the batteries on and the engine off for too long otherwise you may not have the juice to start your engine at all. Reloading the aircraft will give you full batteries again.

As SOH is more combat aircraft oriented you won't find too many civil aircraft in our library but there are a few excellent GA in there. For airliner stuff then the big three freeware libraries are at avsim.net, flightsim.com and simviation.com.

Thank you for your help.

However, I've tried to reset the default flight without success. I go to Free Flight, turn off the engine (Control+Shift+F1), then the battery (Shift+M), then exit. I save and check the box to use this as the default flight. Yet, when I restart, the engine is on.

Am I missing something?

If that didn't work I'd try shutting off the mag(s), avionics switch(es) and fuel cock(s) in addition to the above and saving in that state and see what happens. Most (if not all) of the above are clickable in the VC on most FSX aircraft (or on the 2D panels if provided).

Same thing that I have happen.

wsmwsm,

OK, I have the engine not started.
The thing is you have to save the flight after you enter the sim. Shut down the plane.
Lift click, click hide menu, click on flight on drop down , save. then make that you default flight.
Hope this help the newbies like myself!
