FSTL Traffic

To those of us who use FSTL for AI airline traffic in 2020/24. Flight Radar is pulling their "Feed" that provides real time airline data to FSTL on April 30's (From Fly By Wire's Discord) At worst, they will simply have a "static" set of traffic files. At best they will be able to locate another "Feed" for real time traffic data that is free as they (FSTL) are committed to remain Freeware.

The "Live" function is the ONLY reason I use FSTL. If it is lost, that will be last I use it. AND as one who has paid for a premium subscription to FlightRadar for more than a decade, they will be hearing of my disappointment if this happens. I understand business is business, but there's a symbiotic relationship here which will impact the loyalty of some of the FR24 customers. I see some people are already shutting off their uplink data feed to FR24 as a response.

You can still use the FSLTL injector for ground traffic, and the MSFS Real-Time Online setting for air traffic. I'm currently using these settings posted on the official forum by Zadma:

Another option, I use PSXT with Real Traffic to inject AIG models for the live stuff. Pretty cool to open FR24 on my phone app and see the same in MSFS.

Looks like they changed a freeware product and turned it into a payware thing since you need a Navigraph sub now.
Go figure.

Yes it's a bit of a strange situation - you can still have FSLTL injection ground traffic with MSFS Real-Time Online injecting air traffic, or FSLTL injecting both IF you have a Navigraph subscription.
This gets around FSLTL themselves having to pay for a subscription and then pass on the costs to FSLTL users I guess.

What drives me nuts is all these are "live traffic". I don't want live traffic. Most often I fly late at night because that's when I have time, and I like to fly in daylight, so that means shifting my sim's clock. But since all this add-on traffic is live traffic, I get zero VFR and minimal IFR traffic; might as well not even bother.

The only other apparent option is to use Asobo's utterly useless AI Offline traffic, which for some godforsaken reason wants to prioritize Chinese regional carriers (Hainan is a regular) and West African short-haul (Caravans from Ghana?!) for my flights that mainly take place in Ontario.

To me this is one of the things that is really angering me about this sim. AI traffic is apparently so complicated that you can't have something like the old AIG, where pre-set flight plans would inject correct time-of-day traffic, and you could add and remove traffic you didn't want. I tried the AIG for 2020 and it kept crashing my sim by injecting all ground traffic at once as I passed overhead.

I've basically given up. The frustrations with this (and things like encryption) are making me really, REALLY miss P3D.

FWIW folks, as long as there are (real world) drones and AI plus (real world) private and commercial traffic having to exist in the same air space, this was always going to be an issue.

:wavey:

IMO, this is a case of "Don't hate the game, hate the players". The real world turned it into a bad idea.
