FSUIPC question

Members +
ive figured out FSUIPC for the most part, and someone awhile back said i can map my 4 engined airplanes separate from my 2 and and singles,i get that and it will be easy for me to do ...BUT..if im going to set up say my BAe-146,with certin setup..and my DC-6 and connie differant from eachother..and same with my parking lot full of twins...well when i map my controllers for a BAe-146...will that work from all paints in its folders?..or do i need to do each plane..meaning each repaint seperally from one another?...that will take me months to do all my planes and all the repaints..

The good news is that yes you can map each aircraft as you would like, just make sure the box in the FSUIPC interface "aircraft specific" is checked. Bad news is as you guessed you need to do this for each repaint of the birds you want to map. I'm like you in that i have more aircraft than I know what to do with so usually just map the ones that I fly the most and leave the rest alone or customize as I go along.

This is not entirely true. All you need to do is make a change to the
FSUIPC4.ini file in the General section.

Find the entry "ShortAircraftNames=False" and change that to "True".

Now, those Aircraft specific entries can use a subset of the aircraft
"Title=" entry as it appears in the aircraft.cfg file for a given aircraft.

The "Title=" entry for most paints, if they follow the default
convention, will \begin with the base name of the aircraft followed
by some verbiage identifying the paint....B737-400 Paint 1,
B737-400 United, B737-400 Air Canada, etc.

With the ShortAircraftNames set to True, the FSUIPC4.ini file aircraft specific entries can be [Buttons.B737-400] or [Axis.B737] then those settings will apply to ALL paints of that aircraft.

There is also another feature available ion FSUIPC4 that allows you
to set "profiles" to accomplish this task. I've not used that feature
since I have been using the short names approach since day 1. I find
that it does everything I need when it comes to making control
assignments/mappings for all my aircraft.

The documentation included with FSUIPC4 is quite extensive.
I suggest you bookmark the location for the Advanced Users Guide
PDF file as it will answer most of your questions, as well as
generate a whole slew of new ones :)

This must be the GypsyBaron from Air Warrior of the late 80's & early 90's! <S> :)

As mentioned by GypsyBaron, you can use Profiles (only the purchased version) to create aircraft specific assignments, and calibrations. I have been using FSUIPC for several years now, and had for instance a profile for two engine jet aircraft, but a separate one for the PMDG 737NGX.

Once you have created a profile and load an aircraft the fit's the profile, you just open FSUIPC, select axis assignment, click the checkbox "Profile Specific" and it will pop up with a window allowing you to either create a new profile for that aircraft/repaint, or add it to an existing one.

I can load any PMDG 737NGX repaint and add it to the PMDG 737NGX profile in seconds.

Creating the profiles is time consuming. But once done, adding a repaint to a created profile is a breeze.

I hope this will get you in the right direction.

Let me know if you need more help.

That would indeed be me! :)

Still flying online these days but in FSX Multiplayer. I still have my
Aces High account but never fly there as it is now more 'capture the
flag' rather than the air to air combat of Air Warrior days, now long
gone :(

-=GB=- AW CPID 4580...plus a couple of 'shade' accounts :)

Back in the day, AW DOS, I flew against you and was promptly handed my butt everytime :)
Windoze versions turned out about the same. To be honest I don't remember my handle, DOS was a number and Windows... I dunno anymore. Me & a guy named JetDoc started a squad in AW Windoze called VMF-696. The 696 was the date we started it.
I was Alky on Aces High for a year or so and flew with a handful of old AW guys, Boozer, Fencer and a couple others. It's nice to see a familiar face (ID) from the grand old days of multiplayer! :)

Thanks for that bit of info, I had always thought that you had to make the changes one at a time per repaint, this makes things a lot easier. Guess I still can learn a new thing or two with this sim and it's enhancements.
