Hey guys, im trying to use some fsx afterburner effects and they appear but almost instantly disappear again.

Im not familiar with effects files or how they work. Does anyone with knowledge know what could be going on?

Cheers
Alex

FX files, minus the textures, are a LOT like .cfg files (in FS9, anyway).
You can open them using NOTEPAD, examine what's going on, and even make some edits or write your own. :geek:
FX files, kind of, use their own language BUT it isn't hard to figure it out.

For 'burner effects, DSB/IRIS did some outstanding work. You can find some good examples in their more modern jets (Phantom, F-15, etc.).
Another under-used burner effect can be found in the old KBT/Yoshi F-15 for FS2002. That burner will change from orange to blue/purple above 20,000 feet and it looks sick.

I haven't played with FSX effects. I'm guessing that FSX uses more, or different, variables.
